Rod and pistons, turbo, intake, compression ratio, suspension, and not a horrid cvt
Don’t forget solid compliance bushings Nshared in the type r.
The engines are pretty much the same except forged Pistons and sodium filled valves in the Si, tuning is one of the biggest differences. I can't remember for sure, but the Si may have a slightly better turbo, I can't remember off hand
pistons are verified forged and not cast?

SI compression ratio is less and the turbo is bigger. Also the blade count (Vanes) of the turbo is different in SI as per the blog post by Honda
The housing is the same. I believe the only difference is the blade count on turbine wheel.

The main thing making me want the 2020 Si is the LSD, LEDs and the seats.

The 2020 hatch is also appealing due to hatch, better looks, shorter and no moonroof.

The virus has brought my driving (normally 2-3k miles/month) to zero. So I don't have to make this decision yet.
The shorter gears in the transmission make a hell of a difference from the previous 10th gens also!

If the seats are a big deciding factor for you, then you should know:

-They aren’t as comfortable if you are large (>225 lbs).

- If you are taller than 6’, your head will damn near be resting against the headliner in a coupe.

But if you are like 180 lbs, 5’10... these seats will be the best thing you ever sat in.

I' d like to know if anyone has scientifically measured
values on the 0-60 between a 2017-or 18 SI compared
to 2020.
I'm not sure the result will be any better.
Car and Driver gives the 2017 a time of 6.3 s at 0-60
and 14.8 at 96 mph for the quarte mile.
We can always talk and say many things but i like
facts and numbers.

Thanks - I generally fit find in sports seats like BMW, GTI etc, but at 6'2" the headroom is a problem I think even in the sedan. It's why I don't like moonroofs.

My Civic's seats look really blah, but I can drive 4 hrs without back pain, and that's a first for me in a car.

Leaning toward another Sport 6MT hatch, or the 2021 Elantra GT N-Line if it gets the European update. The hatch is just so convenient when my trunk is full of work bags and I have to throw the kids' soccer bags on top of it all.

With the slightly smaller gear ratios, the advantage is only slightly better off the line, but not much (maybe fractions of a second). The smaller gearing will slightly affect the top speeds

I didn't get to actually time it, but I had a buddy with a 19 SI. When i first got mine we raced (he was on +6 tune and intake) and I stayed with him. We had to stop after 60mph cuz of cops lol but from that we could tell just by the gearing ratio mine was a little quicker. He even took it for a spin and I took his and we both immediately saw differences in our cars

At 5'10" and 180 lbs, I can confirm that these seats are the best thing I ever sat in.

I didn’t know the rods were forged. Didn’t see anything about the pistons being the same though
I may have read that somewhere else. It's possible I am mixing the fact that it's the rods that are forged and the pistons being cast

Haha I was a big boi back in HS and was almost 230lbs at the end of my freshman year of college. Decided that summer to cut out sugary drinks, minimize simple carb intake, up water intake and exercise 7 days a week. By the beginning of sophomore year, I was 175 and nobody recognized me!

I lift more and stay around 180-185 nowadays.

I think the Si seats are perfect, but everyone has their opinions! Had a friend who is about 6' 170lbs, lean and wide shoulders, and didn't like the seats so much. Had a coworker, the typical fat middle-aged dadbod american, but he loved them.
