? For you guys that taped over the red stripe. Did you wipe it down with a cleaner before applying the tape? I’m thinking of doing this, but I’ll probably give it a wipe down with denatured alcohol prior to applying the new tape, hopefully that would Keep it from peeling away later

Alcohol wipe for sure. Pay special attention when you apply the pinstripe on the front lip where the sharp curves are (where the pokes out in the front). Make sure you aren't stretching the pinstripe or it'll continually pull up. It 100% won't last forever in any case. The 3M pinstripe I tried wasn't near as sticky as the factory vinyl stripe.

That was the first thing I did when I got my car was remove the tacky pin stripe. Not sure what they were thinking on that one. I wanted to take it off the wheels to but it was painted lol..

I'm really interested in doing this, and I appreciate everyone sharing their results. For you guys that taped over the red stripe: How is it holding up? Is the tape sticking or do you keep having to fix it? I think i'd like to do the CF or black tape, pulling the red stripe is an option, but I may want to return it to stock someday too.

For now, I'll cover the red stripe and putting on NSX wheels (waiting for the powdercoat black)

I washed my 2020 FK8 and did the red stripe delete....I really like it...I just put the black pin stripe over factory one.

One black stripe 40ft. roll was good to do entire car but get two just in case you mess up or falls in future :)

Used 3M non reflective tape (picture below)....also once you line up the stripe properly, it would be a good idea to use a blow dryer on high heat to make sure the blk pin stripe sticks on a bit better.

12/1/20 UPDATE:

For anyone that is interested in going BACK to the OEM Red Stripe all around, I have found all part numbers:

It's 3M Scotchcal Striping Tape at 1/4in width. I got a 150ft roll off of Amazon, but I think there are more available colors if you just do a google search for it. Should be a ton of options.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotchcal-Coated-Double-Striping/dp/B002NEZCKO/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1545547894&sr=8-14&keywords=3m+scotchcal+striping+tape,+1/4-inch

FYI, I belive the OEM stripe is 1/8in, but the slightly thicker stripe is easier to apply on top of the OEM stripe cleanly IMO.
I found the OEM Red Pin Stripe Tape for TYPE R 2017-2021.

I only found the side skirt ones left and right part numbers.
