Looking back at results, I was #1 or #2 in class for every event this season, and inside the top 5 for PAX. I've been having a blast in this car, and I have definitely improved as a driver over the last year. My RE's are just about toasted. We have a charity exhibition event in December, and after that I will likely move on to RT660's before the start of next season. I want to do an EVO school at some point.

For those who had/have RE71Rs, if you flipped them, how many runs on the tires did you flip them at?

I got about 160 runs out of my last set of Stones and I think I flipped pretty close to the middle of that run, 75-80 runs in.

I got around 160 on 660s and they still had life left. I only swapped them while heading to nats. I still was competitive with the tires and got 2nd at an event on my last event on them against some top tier drivers

So with the new BRZ (and FRS/86) landing in D-Street, I know locally we have 6 drivers that have sold their SSC FRS's and bought the new BRZ to join in the D-Street fun!

Going to be a very interesting class as it seems like the BRZ might be able to give the CTR a run for it's money!

One former GS Si owner bought one. He said needs tires (normal) and has changed the shocks.

An ES driver who drove one said needs tires, shocks and a bar. He also said that it wasn't enticing enough to leave ES to drive one.

Overall they said the power/torque was better.

From what I know so far, we've lost one CTR to "An offer he would have been stupid to refuse" who bought a BRZ to replace it, and 5 other very strong SSC drivers with new BRZ's they have taken delivery on. Going to be a very interesting class with 3-4 CTR's and 6+ BRZ's all from strong drivers.

I recently bought a set of Motegi MR924s and am looking to mount RT660s on them. I would've preferred 255 width tires, but it doesn't look like Falken makes the RT660 in 255/35-19. I'd rather not put 245's on - does anybody know if 265/35-19's will fit on the 8.5" Mortegi wheels? Some places I've read say that 255 is the max width tire for that size wheel, but I thought I read somebody posting that they had put 265 width tires on with no ill effects - I just don't remember where, or even if it's a real memory.

So what does the hive say - will RT660's in 265/35-19's fit on 8.5" Mortegi MR924s?

Thanks!

No experience, but Alex Piehl runs 275's RT660's. But you need to find someone who will attempt to mount them as they are not recommended for an 8.5" wide rim. Same goes for the 265's. Ask your local tire store if they will mount them. As for fitting the FK8, yes, they will fit.
Alex runs the Motegi924 wheels too!

I have been using 265/35/19 71Rs on the Motegi wheels since 2019. I assume RT660's will be the same. I believe that 265 is the correct width for the CTR to do well in DS.

The Falken RT660 are wider than other brands given the same size. Falken recommends a 9" wheel for the 265's too. Check with you tire shop and plan to pay them a bonus for the hassle of mounting them. They will fit! Those wider RT660's give the CTR a wider stance which looks awesome!

Discount tire will give you a good price and put them on even if it takes 30 min/tire!

I just had my 265's mounted on my NSX wheels without issue. I know some people have run up to 285's with the RE-71's, so you should be fine with 265's and the RT-660's.
