This only happens when I first start out in the morning...

I put it in reverse to back out of my space and it's fine and smooth. But when I stop backing out and switch to drive it takes a second or two before it "clicks" into gear. A little annoying but no biggie. After that it's great.

Hondas have always had quirks. Like having to wait 3 days when shifting to D before accelerating without banging the tranny on one with a few miles on it.

I'm sure the new ones are no different. Drive it. Im starting to notice a few things about my 17 EX, and yeah the tranny wait is one of them.

I have to back my car in reverse into my driveway to make it easier for myself when I leave and when I come home to back it in, switching from D to R has a weird jerk sometimes I've noticed.

must come to a complete stop in reverse with CVT or you get that sluggish slow transition with a jerk

I’m kind of meh with the CVT overall. I do like the shifting when it’s in sport mode, but using the paddles doesn’t impress me- especially the 1-2 upshift

When shifting, always wait 'till things totally complete before opening throttle. Really just common sense.

How does this feel for you guys?
Smooth?
Jumpy/peppy?
To be clear --

Are you asking about shifting from Neutral into either forward or reverse?

Or when going in reverse and then going straight to Drive?

I’ll resurrect an ancient thread:

My 2019 revs a bit when going from R to D and vice versa. And it does seem to take eons compared to my old manual. If I shift really fast it minimizes it, but it still does it.

To baby the transmission I was shifting slowly from R to N to D but that just made the revving even worse.

There’s also a bit of jerkiness when slowing down around 15-20 mph and then speeding up again. But I think that’s par for the course from what I’ve read.

Anyone else get a slight jerk/nudge when shifting from P to R after the car has sat overnight?
