CVT transmission any good/bad?

Just jumping in to bump this thread since I got my first automatic in 10 years and it's a CVT. Had way too many problems to deal with out of my 05 EX 5 Speed, so I traded it in and got a 2017 Sport Hatchback. So far, the CVT doesn't bother me, though I have noticed the engine gets a bit a loud around 75 mph or higher in sport mode.

you mean S? why are you cruising at 75mph on S. its probably at 3000-3500rpm? so that's why the engine is louder

I'm hooning the shit out of my Civic. Love it. Wish I waited for the 2017 and got the turbo in MT but oh well. I enjoy my car.

Sorry, I'm just now seeing this! Thanks for the break down, though. This is my first CVT. My shifter doesn't have the Low option, though, after Sport.

That video explains it really well. I had no clue how it worked and didn't really care since I am getting 40 mpg lol. But I have no compaints on the CVT. I know some people don't like it but it is doing just what I want which is give me good gas mileage. Four a 4 cylinder FWD this car is definitely fast enough and fun to drive. That is one good thing about the Civic. If you want a good fuel efficient car, they have a model for it. If you want a fast manual transmission car, they have that too. Lol.
