When the dealer does the transmission fluid service, do they replace either filter?

Not sure about CVT’s but on the AT all they do is a drain and fill, they never did flushes or drop the transmission pan unless they had to work on it or were doing an overhaul. Don’t see why they would change up for CVT’s, although you don’t change much with a drain and fill when half of the fluid is in the torque converter, so it was recommended to do 3 drain and fills to get most of the fluid swapped

Great post! Thanks so much for doing the legwork and spoonfeeding us the PN's and such.

Question: how often should we go through the filter change business compared to just changing the fluid? I'm going to be doing the fluid at 30k on my ride, so maybe do the fluid again w/filters at 50k?

Thanks. Just trying to erase some of the mystery of this maintenance job.

As for when to do it, I don't know. But for reference, these filters were 215,000 miles used.

Just did a drain and fill at 225K. Fluid came out with almost no discoloration from new. Only 10K miles, but nice to see it's so good, and no metal on the drain plug magnet. Back to regular 30K drain and fills.

225K…
At the rate I’m going, that will be in 2036 for me. 😆
Thank you for the very informative thread.

When you put the CVT pan back on, are you supposed to use HondaBond or just the gasket?

Just a new gasket. My car was never serviced by anyone other than me and it had no HondaBond.
Word. I’m just shy of 50k miles and am about to do the same as this for the first time. I change my fluid every 10k, but i beat the piss out of it and it helps me sleep better at night.

I appreciate the write up!

I'll do fluid at 30 and filters at 50 or 60 just because it's cheap and easy.
