No update yet, I'm still have no idea how to route the cable thur firewall.

Would you be willing to sell your TCM and parts for someone else to try if you haven't gotten it yet?

Still no luck? @lucashend or I would gladly take that TCM off your hands to try it out if it's just sitting there wasting away

Hi guys,

I decided to burn some cash to give this a try on my Civic 2016 EX.. I bought a steering wheel from a Civic 2019 Sedan Sport with paddle shifter, and also the Control Unit Transmission from the same vehicle.

I'm new to this and this is my first car, but I'm anxious to learn. If this can be done easily I can try it myself (after watching some videos and getting help from you) and share the results here.

Here are the parts:

I guess my questions are: Would it work? Can it damage my car in anyway?

Thanks.

Now don’t quote me on this, but I believe 1.5T and 2.0 have slightly different CVT’s. I would imagine you want to take that into consideration when getting the TCM

Not sure why they're stupid on the newer CVT's....
IMO....if you have the CVT with paddle shifters, you get more on the fly control..... allow you to brake downshift if needed giving additional braking power...upshift in a curve to pull you through on the hi end with more torque or stay in higher revs if pulling out into the straights....or yes just get an old manual
Because a CVT doesn’t have gears so there’s no shift points for it to make. CVTs are epic if tuned for performance instead of mpg

Good point. I looked the vin of both cars and this is what I found:

Civic 2019 Sport Engine: 2.0-L L-4 DOHC 16V
Civic 2016 EX Engine: 2.0-L L-4 DOHC 16V

So the engines seems to be the same. But here are pictures of the shifter on each car:

...and I got a MINI R50 with CVT and paddles to play with. I find them totally useless, when i need "power" i just switch to DS to downshift and back to D when i'm done.

The in

The infiniti already had an area to mount the paddle shifters from the looks of it, I dont think that non paddle Civics have that same kind of indent in the steering rack like the infiniti. It was probably an option on that car that the buyer didn't select and its just left as a blank area. If you really wanted to convert your Civic to paddles, you would end up spending more money than its worth and at that point you might as well just trade in on a Civic that actually has it. Makes no sense to go through the headache of installing it.
Infiniti's have the option and are all setup for them and you only need to get the paddles.

Did anyone complete this project. Is Kyle still staring at the firewall, holding a pair of scissors?
