So, originally my Civic 2016 EX-T would emit fast beeps when I got out of the car without taking my FOB with me. It would also often emit this noise even if I had taken my keys out, but got out too fast or was too close to the car or whatever... I've seen other threads here referring to this issue. So I assumed I was in the same boat.
Recently I noticed it doesn't emit the fast beep under any circumstance except when I leave the FOB in the trunk or I close the door with FOB far away. In both cases I understand it's warning me that the doors are not locked.
What's weird is that it won't give me that fast beep reminder when I leave the keys in the cabin anymore. The only thing I can think of is that this was a software update that occurred the when I brought my car in for the parking brake recall. I like that it's not annoying me half the time for no reason, but I kinda miss the appropriate alert that my I left my keys in the car and it's not locked.
Does anybody know if the auto lock operation stop beeper sounds have been modified by Honda? Or was mine originally just acting in aberrant way?
Thanks.
