Hey everyone,
New coilovers in, alignment scheduled. Just curious of how even each side needs to be generally to get a good alignment?

The correct way to adjust coilovers is corner balance with scales. Although most people just measure wheel to fender gap until they’re even. But that is no guarantee that the diagonal wheels are supporting equal weight.

Think of a four-legged table and one leg is slightly shorter. The table wobbles until you even it out. Now picture each of those legs is a spring. And one spring is shorter than the rest. The table won’t wobble since the other springs compress, but you won’t know which one is carrying less weight.

I'm more so curious about measuring the wheel to fender gap and how even does it really need to be. My garage and most people's garages aren't perfectly even so no matter what it's going to be off. I'm wondering if having uneven fender gap when sat on a perfectly level location like when getting alignment if that causes any issues.

You shouldn’t be too far off just setting the ride height using tape measure from the rim to the fender gap. Your alignment based on those ride height settings should be fine. As long as you’re doing it in your garage since most garages are fairly even. Unlike driveways which can vary quite a bit.
