I bought an FX350 several months ago in anticipation of a slipping clutch thanks to my professional tune that was in progress at the time. About a month ago, some time after having the custom tune completed, I was not having any slipping issues, so I sold the clutch.

Shortly afterwards, I was presented with the opportunity to learn about tuning the 1.5T. It did not take long for me to push the OEM clutch beyond it’s limits so I was left in need of the aftermarket clutch I sold only a couple of weeks ago. I emailed MAPerformnce and promptly had another FX350 in my possession, at an awesome price.

I reached out to a friend of mine for installation assistance and we met at his private shop this weekend to complete the task. Equipped with a two post lift, a transmission jack with an adapter for the subframe, and the instructions from Honda we made it through the process without much trouble. A quick job it was not, totaling over 8 hours. However, we took our time and carefully torqued everything to spec. Post installation I had to adjust the clutch master cylinder rod because it was engaging right off the floor, it was functional as-is but it was too close for my taste. That took a little trial and error but wasn’t really a big deal. As expected, it easily handles all the power I can throw at it with 93 octane. I am planning on installating a flex fuel setup pretty soon.

I took a few photos along the way, you can find them below.

I have probably 30 miles on it so far. Drivability is great, I've not had any chatter or anything. Zero complaints. The pedal feel is more heavy than stock of course but probably not any heavier (if even as heavy) as the stock clutch on my 2014 WRX. It's holding 25.9psi at 3100 RPMs with ease. (The new tune is still a work in progress.)

They quote 110% increased holding capacity on their website, but I'm not sure how they calculate that. The stock one holds 250ft lbs so does that mean this one holds over 500ft lbs? Maybe not. Someone else said ClutchMasters told them 380ft lbs (if I recall correctly) on the phone, which would be plenty for me.

I really hope it's more then 380. With PRL doing there internals and big turbo. There's not going to be a clutch that can handle it. As it stands I won't go fx400, would have to replace it to often and the chattering

I think over time more manufacturers will bring clutch options to the table.

Does the clutch feel fine for daily driving?
Absolutely.

I won’t pretend that my Civic is a full blooded sports car but I like it to be as sporty as reasonably possible. The OEM clutch didn’t feel sporty at all, this one does. I’d compare it to the change in shifter feel after adding base bushings and a short shift adapter... from a tame economy car feel to a sporty feel. Hopefully that makes sense.

Could you help me understand the meaning of "feel" in this context? I've mostly only ever driven Hondas, all of which seem to have the same clutch feel. The only different feel I've ever experienced was a 2017 WRX, which had a totally different spring action - felt like it was stiff for the first few degrees, and then gave way at the biting point. Is that what you mean by feel?

Well, to put it bluntly, there isn't any "feel". Its just extremely extremely light. Like pushing against feather.

Probably have to run a twin disk for the turbo kit.
wont we need to switch to a single mass flywheel for that? which at the moment it throws codes :(

I don’t think we will ever be able to upgrade our dual mass, maybe they can make a twin disk that works with our flywheel.
