A good set of brushes goes a long way in the engine bay especially for the kind of dirt you're describing and can really get in the hard to reach places. Would then follow this up with and spray cleaners if necessary.

1) spray degreaser all over engine bay and let sit for 5 or so minutes.
2) use various brushes to agitate.
3) spray clean
4) blow or wipe dry
5) use quick detailed or engine dressing to make shine

Did you cover anything specific before spraying? Battery?

people do it differently depending on their worry about getting parts wet.
when i detail engine bay, i use a degreaser, wheel brushes, and a pressure washer.

spray degreaser all over the engine
use wheel brushes
rinse
use a leaf blower to dry
spray meg hyper dressing and let it sit

basically the same step as the guy above. Just have to be careful when using a pressure washer so just a regular garden hose on the shower setting might be safer if you have never done it.

i cover only the alternator but you technically don't have to. Just be smart about it and not blast water into areas you don't want to soak.

I recently did mine.
Looks great, as new!
Was it dirty to start with? How/with which products did you clean it?

What strut-bar brand is that? Does it make a noticeable difference?
Other reinforcement plates/rear strut-bar?

If you rinse the engine, won't debris accumulate in the underneath engine bay shield?

I first use a vacuum to clean up any lose debris. Then like others have mentioned I use a degreaser and a set of detail brushes to agitate the degreaser. Then rinse and wipe down. I used Chemical guys VRT on all the black trim pieces. As far as the strut bar it’s from Cusco. I also have the Cusco front and rear sub frame braces.

Amazing engine bay! I just get major heartburn with thought of spraying water in the engine bay. haha
what you can do to alleviate your concern is just put water in a spray bottle. Spray down on the section you are cleaning, agitate, and they wipe down. You won’t damage or hurt anything using this technique.

Thanks for the reply!
What kind of degreaser do you use?
Is it a noticeable improvement in handling with the strutbar and braces?

I use a degreaser that Chemical guys sells. I diluted it and put it in a different spray bottle so I don’t remember the exact name. As for the strut bar I honestly think that just the strut bar doesn’t make much difference but when combined with other suspension and chasis mods it adds up nicely.
