Need new car after the winter. Looking at these 3.
Reason I pick these three instead of like a civic si is because these three will fit in my garage I need a car that’s 180in or shorter so limits my choices. My heart wants the gti, but worry about reliability. Keeping this car for 8-10 years.
I’m using this car just from home to work, so the practical choice would be the Hyundai. This is hard.
These are Canadian prices and specs.

Civic Hb touring 31-32k
Pros all option I want, reliable brand
Cons expensive for civic, not as sporty, 3yr com warranty

Elantra gt sport 28-29k
Pro new model with 205hp 195tq. All option I need, cheap, 5yr com warranty
Cons it’s a Hyundai, had a 98 tiburon many years ago ruin my perception of Hyundai.

Gti 32-33k
Pro. Fun, sporty, 4yr warranty
Con. Reliability reliability. Lack of the option I want

If I have your budget, I'd get the GTI. The prices for all three are so similar, so might as well get a car with superior performance and refinement. You'd do preventive maintenance on any of the three vehicles anyway.

What the heart wants the heart gets...if you have a bad experience with the car, learn from the experience and buy quality first

Civic Sport - Ideal for long term ownership
Elantra Sport - Great package for the price but horrible resale value
MK7 GTI - Most sporty, best performance out of the three but MK8 GTI is coming really soon.

If I had the money at the time I would hands down go with the GTI, now i'm just wait for the next generation of hot-hatchs (MK8, WRX, ST)

VW GTI. I love the design, outside and the performance.

Other than that, I can't stand the bland interior and question the reliability. It's assembled/made in Mexico right. I rember shopping for it 5-10 years ago. Reasons why I didn't buy it.

It doesn't help that my first purchase was from Mexico to, 1999 Pontiac Grand Am V6. Lasted 18 months, POS lemon.

As for Hyundai, I love what they're doing but that's how far I'll go. It's basically my 3-4 option when buying.

Why don't you spend $31k and get the 2.0T Accord sport 6 speed manual? Detuned Type R engine with 252hp and 278tq. It's a no brainer.
Actually I talked to my local dealer and got them down to $29,900 before TTL on that Accord.

Oh yea. Reason for those three because they are less than 180in. Otherwise it won’t fit in garage due to a build in pantry.
