Also, looking at the side skirts, they seems to be extended pretty far out. I feel like myself or one of my passengers is going to step on or kick it. Is it just a little exaggerated for pics/because it is on top of sport side skirts or will it actually be that far out?

Skirt doesn't come out too far. I'm lowered with recaro seats and I get out fine

I'd say for sure the splitter makes the front end look great. So I would spring for that part first!

I'm not sure how many active members we have in this forum, but to see only four people interested in the 17' HB's first front lip/splitter is just shocking to me. Four people? It's only $300, I'd think there would be one or two dozen people in line at this point.

Are people just not interested in saving $50?

Well I will say that people are ordering on their own.
Aeroflow has sold multiple splitters and FULL kits already to several hatchback owners.

hmm - I guess everyone is just going it alone. I'm used to the Lexus forums where group buys are very popular. Maybe things are different with Honda. I guess I'll buy on my own then.

Its a new gen civic, so everyone is just getting to know each other. It'll change with time. I can take you off the list if you end of buying on your own
