Honda Civic coupe 2017
Good morning,

I leased my Honda Civic coupe 3 years ago. In several weeks I should decide if I want to return it or buy it.

Mileage is around 38000 (I have 15000/year). It was serviced in official Honda dealership only. Car is in very good shape. I can buy back for $12000. Quick study showed that such car usually proposed for $15000 and a little bit more.

Its my first car and I loooove it. However, interior starts to look a little bit dusty (of course) even after regular cleaning. I attach several pictures and I am really curious if something (or detailing?) can help to make it more fresh. Second, now I have 38000 miles. Letā€™s say in several years it will be 70000 or more. Is it still safe to have the car with such mileage? Climate: no snow ever, good roads.

I checked Honda Civic coupe 2020 but maybe its too stupid to do such substitution.

I looked at Dodge Challenger, Mazda Miata and Ford Mustang. I like their looks but I have several concerns:
  • it will be car with totally different dynamics which may be risky to do since it will be my 2nd car for the whole life
  • I like digital speedometer which is not the case about these 3 cars above
  • Are they practical for daily use?
  • These cars are simply more expensive
So, in summary:
  • What can you advise? Buyback, lease Civic 2020?
  • Is it possible to make interior cleaner?

Thanks!

I would say buy it if you love the car and donā€™t plan to have a family in the next year. You took care of it so you are the one who knows the car.

Thatā€™s why I bought mine after the 3 years lease.

Buy it and do a fresh katzkin interior to freshen the interior and maybe some 2020 wheels.

Subtle changes will give you the ā€˜new carā€™ feel at the ā€˜old carā€™ price

If you can afford a 2020, get that. If not, keep what the current one... itā€™s a honda. Itā€™ll last for a LOOOONG time as long as itā€™s maintained.

I'm pretty sure the marks on the fabric are just buildup from contact with bare skin. See if it can be wiped off with a damp towel/fabric cleaner

Can easily change out the trim pieces to ā€œleatherā€ or the type r ones. Any decent detailer place can do a deep clean on fabric/carpet. Keeping payments low should be the main goal. Getting those newer cars will probably costs more.

I myself would definitely not get the same car with same look and same feel.
Your car is till relatively new. Maybe wait for the 11th Gen Civc.
Too bad, there will be no more coupe after 2020.

i rented a Dodge Challenger 2 weeks ago and I was not impressed at all. It drove like a boat, typical American car.

Pick the car that will put a smile on your face when driving it every time.

Not familiar with leasing at all, but if you could get a new lease with better terms or lower payments, then that would determine whether or not to go with a new one.
That fabric starts looking like that almost instantly it seems, I've taken just a damp cloth and cleaned it several times and it comes pretty clean.
Whatever your gonna do though, if you want a coupe , Honda isn't going to be making them any longer so there's that.

i own both a 2015 camaro RS and 2018 civic coupe EX.in many ways the civic is the better car of the two.gas mileage is much better, visibilty is better too.i actually shopped the 9th gen civic coupe and if it had more headroom i probably would have bought that instead of the camaro.the civic is sportier at low speed,in order to feel like you are going fast in the camaro you need to be into the triple digits and looking at jail time if you get caught.

If you are generally pleased & satisfied with your car, I'd go for a 2020 Civic Coupe, it will be your last chance for one.

The 2020 is not really much of an upgrade. It's essentially the same car. Not worth stepping laterally for more money.
