Paint, clear coat, compound?

After you use the clear coat, do you smooth out with a rubbing compound? If so, what kind?

This is so helpful! I got a small chip on the hood of my new baby at only 400 miles and was heart broken. Now I don't have to just live with it!

to properly fix something like this

1. 1000 grit sand paper sand the surrounding area.
2. get rid of any rust if any with Honda's OEM paint that has both paint + clear coat. it comes with a picking tool
3. clean the area well before applying the paint and clear coat from the pen. I'd use the brush.
4. wait for it to dry the apply clear coat, wait for that to dry
5. wet sand paper 1000 grit, 1200 or 1500 til smooth
6. Meiguar's ultimate compound or any compound that can get handle 1200 or finer. if you need more info on how to ask.
7. looks brand new, in the case it doesn't work out compound wise, might help to use a machine orbit instead of by hand.

hello!
I got a decent sized chip on the passenger door and I was wondering if you guys could take a look at it and tell me if I need primer and/or he best way to fix it.
I've attached a picture of it. And yes I know you can see my stupid face in the reflection.
Thanks guys!
