Is anyone aware if mechanics will balk at removing resonators? They aren't technically mufflers, so are just fine to remove legally.
Are there any recommendations on places to go to accomplish this: anywhere or a more "specialized" mechanic?
How much should I expect to spend for this work, so I'm not getting ripped off?

Or, is this something I could really just do on my own with a pipe cutter and a kit, since it's just a straight pipe?
And if this is the better option to save some money, do you have any recommended kits?

(I have very little car work experience, but did just do a whole spring lowering kit on my own, so I'm not necessarily afraid to get up under my car after assessing risk of a non-mechanic, namely me, doing it.)

Thanks for help to ANY of my questions.

Did you get this done yet? If so what were your results?

And does your car have a spare tire? Or just a fix a flat kit like the SI?

A resonator delete on the sport HB is barely noticeable, and wasn't worth it imo. I had the chance to get a 27Won exhaust for cheap, but if that didn't happen I would have done more modification to the rest of the exhaust.

Does your car have a spare tire? And do you run regular 87 octane gas?

My wife has a HB EX, which does have a tire, mine is the sport touring HB. The exhaust is different between the 2 because of that area.

Have you ever driven an SI? I am considering it vs the S/T Hatchback.
I have driven the SI but not the hatch and I would be buying a manual in anything that I decide to purchase.

No, sorry. The dealers didn't really want people driving the few Si's they had unless you were going to buy it, so never got to test one. You could probably find a used one somewhere and they wouldn't care as much.

I have already driven a new SI, but not a sport touring hatchback.
I just wondered how similar they might be in driving. "Thanks"

You can test a sport hatchback anytime, they don't really care. Good luck finding a manual on the lot though.
