Try out Shine Armor Fortify Quick Coat. It's legit. Stuff just glides off and super easy to use. Available on Amazon too....I personally use this and Meguiars Ceramic Detailer. I initially put a coat of Meguiars NXT wax after claying the car the day after I brought it home from the dealer to make sure I got some protection on there. I also use Griots Garage speed shine to do the daily or every other day wipe downs. Seriously though the Shine Armor is the best product for the money if you are considering SiO2 products.
If i go with a ceramic spray is a ceramic detailer needed? I have Mother's instant detailer that came with a claybar and also bought a McGuire's one that is specific for black cars.

Do the job yourself. I highly recommend Adams Products. They have everything you need. Have you worked with a polisher before? if you watch any YouTube videos, a paint correction is recommend.

good Luck!
Used a paint scratch remover. I have foam applicators and stuff, I could give it a whirl. Thanks bro

Can I still do paint corrections on ceramic coating?

When I have small light scratches, I would use Meguiars Ultimate Compound to remove them. How does this work with ceramic coating?

The ceramic coating (not the spray on kind) is similar to a glass coating on the car so it is much more resistant to swirls and scratches. If you get scratches, you would do a paint correction to remove it but you will need more aggressive compound and\or pads. Then ceramic coat the area again.

So I'm really torn about whether or not to get a ceramic coating done. The car is about a month off the lot and brand new, so I figured if I'm going to do it, I should do it while the paint is still in near factory condition. My question is whether or not spending $500 on the low end to $3,000-5,000 is really worth it or if I should just use wax or some sort of sealant (or a combo of the two?). I can't really justify spending that much on something that- sure, lasts for years- but ultimately is not permanent and will fade. Right now I have some Griot's poly wax- haven't used it yet because I'm trying to figure out if I should get some sort of sealant first and apply it before waxing.

Sorry for the long post- in short: is ceramic coating really worth the $$$?
Ceramic coating- worth it?

I have been living with ceramic coating since day 1 and she always make me smile on my face for 3 years since I diy her. The washing is so easy and always give that crispy sharp look after a simple wash. Throughout the years, I did not buy all sort of paint cleaner, all kind of polishes, all sort of wax, paint sealant, etc. etc. This save me money on all kind car paint detailing stuffs and save me ton of elbow grease for the last 3years!! All I use is only 2-pail method ceramic wash shampoo and ceramic spray. For just 30mins, I feel real good and admire my crispy sharp ride for weeks till next wash. I have posted this photo in other thread and I inserted here if I can make you not to torn apart.

Edit: Diy if you can. The latest ceramic coating technology is much forgiving now than before. It will save you money, down time of 3-4 days.

Thanks for the reply. Is it best to do indoors? Also, I'm pretty inexperienced, sort of afraid of screwing something up...but the more and more and look into DIY kits, I'm thinking its a viable option
I agree you save a lot if you do it yourself, but if you don't know what you're doing, you might end up messing up your paint even more. Just bring to a reputable shop at least they give you 3 or 5 year warranty if anything. Just my opinion.

I use the Griot's Garage 3-in-1 ceramic spray wax. At this point I'll re-apply every month or two, and it's drastically cut down the amount of time needed to clean the car off. I also employ a foam cannon from Chemical Guy's and their... Honeydew Snow wash I think it's called. Cleans all the crap off the car without cleaning off the protective coating.

I bought the Chemical guys hydroslick, its $40 for the bottle. Its new, applies on very easy and also easy to remove. It made my car much easier to wash the following time
I was able to get it done in a couple hours, it cures very quickly too so you dont have to wait days to do it. Good luck!

Re: Turtle Wax - I know nothing about the Hybrid stuff, however, I do watch Project Farm on YouTube and on a couple of videos Turtle Wax pretty much came last and did not work as advertised. Be careful. Anyone else out there watch Project Farm too?

I have used Meguiars exclusively for many years with excellent results. I trust their products In both exterior and interior detailings.

Also, I learnt all about car detailing from their forum.

Actual ceramic coatings are worth it to increase the durability of your paint and finish and to make the paint even "wetter" looking than otherwise.

Most of the cost is the time to properly prepare the car for the coating. This means, clean, mechanical and chemical decontamination, final paint prep with an IPA. If you wait too long before having a coating applied, you are likely going to need full paint correction that would mean a minimum of a DA polish or compounding to eliminate any scratches in the clear coat.

So if anything, the sooner from new, the better to make the decision.

As for doing it yourself, there is a pile of great tubers you can watch. Pan The Organizer has excellent videos on the subject and for some epic car cleaning and finishing porn, Car Craft Auto Detailing in Melbourne: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOcVjrjvQmciOGWexARl_ZA/videos

The most important single detail after a good prep is to never work an area larger than 2 feet by 2 feet.

As for all the hybrid products out there, they are temporary with the optical benefits of a ceramic coating. I have tried a few and so far, I am happiest with a dry application of Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic (blue). A coating of it will last between 3 and 6 months depending on how much of a thumping the panel takes. The lower parts of our doors and the rockers are stripped the fastest with the hood second and the rest of the car the longest lasting.

The biggest deal with actual ceramic coatings is that they add 1 to 3 microns of semi-permanent "glass" to the clear coat. They are not a wax or hybrid alternative. They will last for between 2 and 5 years. They are not one and done either as they will eventually start to get swirl and scratches on them.

Personally, I would get it done or do it myself if I had an Si or Type R or something particularly nice and expensive but I don't mind washing and doing maintenance on my car. I think when it hits 4 years, I will get a good DA unit and work out the surface scratches and get the chips touched up and then maybe do a coating on it. (I keep my cars for an average of 11 years so not a loss even after 4 years of ownership.)
