I have that same one and it slides on the dash like a hockey puck on ice. :( It might work well in the cubby though.
Got it from Amazon today. Sits very still on the dash right in front of the steering wheel; didn't move on the first test run. Works, for now. Too big for the cubby. After I ordered it I figured out that my iPhone case (Presidio Grip Case for iPhone 8/7/6s/6 - Graphite), which has a thick non-slip border, will lie in portrait mode in the little slot above the head unit and not move an inch except a little bit under extreme cornering. So, that's another option.

I got the CLEC magnet mount. Hold your phone like a rock. Looks OEM. No shaking. My only concern if the phone falls off the mount it may scratch the radio screen. My next investment a screen protector for Head unit.

How does this mount? Does it come with double sided tape?

...so I made some minor but great changes... I bought the WizGear magnetic mount and replaced the one that the CLEC one came with with the one from WizGear. It is much larger and much stronger and keeps the phone from vibrating/wiggling considerably less while driving. The ball and sockets are the same size and the supplied nuts are also the same so it was just a quick swap of parts. Using the WizGear nut also allows for a bit more range of motion due to the outer size of the nut being smaller. This is now a really great mount.

Hello,
Do you still use this setup? If so, would this work for wireless charging at home with magnets on back? I have a note 9.
Thanks.

Hello. Yes I do still use this combo. It works well for me. I'm not sure if you could make the wireless charging work due to the fact that you need a metal plate (not magnets) on the back of the phone or phone case (what I do) to attach to the magnet mount (magnets are on the mount part).

I see that Proclip has a setup close to this now but installs in front of one of the vents. https://www.proclipusa.com/product/855199-proclip-center-mount

Chiming in with mine. I went with the Kuda custom mount for the 16-plus Civic.

http://www2.kudausa.com/kuda_mount_and_holder_for_honda_civic_since_2016-11-853.html

For the phone holder, I went with the Arkon Mega Grip Universal Phone Holder for iPhone 11, XS, XR, X, 8, Galaxy Note 9, S10 (SKU: SM040-2) and the VSM or AMPS Pattern Adapter for Arkon Mounts (APAMPSSBH - this one is a bit cheaper because it has no adhesive backing - you have to use the screws to attach it to the Kuda base). This base has the standard ball that will fit most kinds of holders.

Thanks to all of you for responding. Quick question. How many of the metal plates are required to have a strong hold? Did you use the rectangle or round plate or both? I have a note 9 so needs to be a strong hold. Also noticed in some reviews of how to attach these plates that if I put them at bottom of phone, they should not block wireless charging.
Thoughts?

I have a Motorola Z2Force and it's a very thin phone. I have one rectangle metal plate on the back of the TPU cover for the phone and it is rock solid. I decided to change out to the WizGear magnetic plate because it was the strongest one I have tried...especially compared to the one that came with the mount. I cleaned the back of the phone cover with alcohol before I attached the metal plate to be sure the adhesive would stick well...and it does. I think once you experience this specific combo that I stated above, you will see just how very strong the magnets are.

This is the case I have for my phone... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072KGLY7F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

...and have attached the metal adhesive backed plate in the center of the back side of this cover. I do not use wireless charging so I can't comment on that.
