catless dp + defouler = no CEL?

Will having a defouler on a catless dp prevent a CEL?

Putting bolt ons 1st then I might get a tuner.
Car has 175k so I'm on the fence about tuning it
You're at 175K and are just now adding bolt ons?

Tuning done right has proven safe with OTS tunes (check my signature) and a custom could be even better. Plus a custom could tailor the power to be extra mild/safe versus wanting to wring out ultimate power.

Yea we talked about this. With the car being such high mileage I thought it best to add bolt ons first and then a tuner so that, so I'm not running on full of OEM components.

My dp/for is aFe and I got a P0420 code last night. Change the spark plugs for good measure and clear the code. It hasn't triggered yet.

From my understanding, aFe is autozone... wouldn't be surprised if the catalytic material is going bad. I found the VR6 catless dp close by and affordable.

My question is having a defouler going to prevent a CEL?

I have a prl intercooler coming soon. All these Bolt ons id like to install first before throwing a tune in, especially because of the high mileage.

Why do you think aFe is Autozone? lol

It's a smallish manufacturer that's was started by a couple former K&N employees. Their stuff may be sold at AutoZone but it's certainly not their house brand.
