Catalytic Converter Pinging after autocross runs

Anybody else have their catalytic convert ping loudly after running the car hard then slowing down? Every time its happened has been when I take an autocross run and it pings loudly once or twice while coasting back to the start area. Is this normal?

heat causes expansion, you're hearing it cooling off.

YES! should be just hot metal cooling down to ambient temp.
