I have to transport my 2016 Civic Sedan across country by train. It was strongly suggested we disarm the alarm because cars would arrive at the destination with drained batteries due to the alarm going off so long. Is there a way to disarm the alarm without having to disconnect the battery or leaving the vehicle unlocked?

Ignore the suggestion - the Civic OEM alarm would only go off if a door, trunk, or hood were forced open after being locked and the alarm deactivates after 2 minutes. Otherwise only a maladjusted door/trunk/hood latch would trigger an alarm - you'd know this beforehand as the alerts for such would have been triggering while you were driving.
