Yeah, reading that the physical mechanical mechanism inside the key latch is not working. My wife never had to use it because she used the button on the key to unlock it electronically for the last 5 years. Others have had this same situation happen to them. All I can offer is that people check to see if their key physically opens their car once in a blue. I just checked with my 2018 Civic and it works fine as well.
The bummer also is that there is no key opening on the passenger side or trunk. Just the driver's side of the 2018 Honda Civic Hatch. Could've simply opened the passenger side door or the trunk with the physical key if they did.
