Can't see my new post when I click "New Posts"

I have never been able to have my posts come up when I select "New Posts". Is there an option that I need to turn on?

That's because technically speaking the post isn't new to you (since you posted it). The forum software is very literal in how it interprets "New Posts."

If you'd like to see your new posts, you can use the Recent Posts link, which is more comprehensive.
