Can I fit 275/35 tires on my Hatch?

Is 275 too wide for 9.5 wheels?

I'm looking to buy a new set of wheels that are 18x9.5 +45 but I'm not too sure if 275 wide tires is too wide to fit with a 9.5. I've come across some sites that say 275 is the max and some that say 275 is too large.

I'm currently on coilovers and wanted to see if anyone else runs something similar and if they needed to modify their liners or fenders to avoid rubbing.

I have yet to see someone run a 275. However we have a few guys that run 18x10/10.5s on 265s (https://www.civicx.com/threads/aggressive-wheel-fitment-thread.26817/page-27). Might have unwanted poke with a +45 275 combo.

It seems wide just looking at the numbers in mm, as a 9.5" is 241mm, but if you run a 35/40 series 275 it is a recommended wheel size, in fact 9" is the least amount of width for a 275 in either 35 or 40 series. It's a lot of tire, hope you have the power to go with it or is this just for looks?
Plus, a tire that size could easily weigh nearly 30 pounds. From a real world daily driver performance standpoint, it makes little to no sense.

275mm is actually the maximum tread section width you can use on a 9.5 inch wide rim. I should add that sources that say it's too big are probably using the +20mm rule, which is just a guideline, not a policy. The safe maximum section width for a 9.5" is 275mm.

It's your car, you can do whatever you like to make you happy.

Having said that, to improve handling and not to increase weight, I satisfied my wheel/tire choice with Rays 57CR 18x8.5+37, Michelin PS4S stock size 235/40-18.

Good luck, do what make you happy!
