can you guys take a picture comparing the PRL intercooler vs the PWR intercooler? Ive read that the fin technology is better on the PWR? Anything else that would make the PWR a better choice?
C&R/PWR would be lighter and more efficient while maintaining low IATs and consistent boost pressure. You’ll be able to continually do pulls with the C&R whereas with the PRL you might have heatsoak issues and not be able to shed the heat.

@fatherpain Was there a main reason you switched from Koyo to PWR? With Acuity reverse flow hoses on both will you notice a better difference with PWR?

I too would like to know. It seems that C&R feels their race radiator is not ok for street use (I would assume from not enough air flow in traffic for the higher tube count etc.) but for hot track days, you clearly need the maximum cooling you can get.

please post some data comparing it to your other intercooler. With my PRL intercooler i saw a difference of about 20 degrees from my IAT1 and IAt 2. I'm pretty sure we would like to see what a difference the C&R is. thanks

The PRL has more specific heat (mass), so it will take longer to reach thermal steady state. That's why you'll see a good delta because the mass has not absorbed its capacity of heat. In contrast, if you're doing a long track event, you'll have a hard time getting it to cool the intake air because you've filled that large thermal capacity. Therefore, the heat cannot go into the intercooler mass so it stays in the air.

I'd still like to see some data as always.

It was explained to me that IATs might be similar but in a smaller more efficient package. The bigger benefit would be the amount of boost pressure / air flow through the intercooler is increased

Do you happen to have the core size dimensions for the C&R Intercooler? I tried to look around online. I saw their ebay listing and it shows the following:

Core Length: 16.18Type: Turbo Intercooler
Core Thickness: 87mmCore Height: 7.05

The core length does not seem accurate though? Maybe a typo? Is it 26.18"? I'm guessing:

26.18" Length x 7.05" Height x 3.43" (87mm) Depth

The dimensions I were given by Cory 665x177x87mm

The 3 of us that have it installed and ran them at the track had no issue. Temps were in excess of 100F. Totally worth it IMO.

Good news about the temps. Do you all have vented hoods and do you all have street or race rads?

Tim saw the highest temps nearly maxing out his gauge. He has the street rad only. He said it reached almost max towards the end of session but never went limp

Tom and I both have bolt ons, tune, vented hood, and track rad. Our temps were much lower and were around the half to 3/4 mark. For me I saw average temps of 230. At laguna I saw temps of 200 in 80F weather

That is excellent news. I also believe you mentioned that you have not had any issue with driving on the street with your race version radiator correct?

No doubt the vented hood helps but the bolt ons and tune likely increase heat production on their own.

I have no issues on street. Sometimes ECT will sit a bit higher at 190 on the street but that’s pretty normal because fans don’t kick on until then
