I think this is their “Black Friday / November” sale.
Did you get retune with the new intercooler or you kept the same tune with the HKS intercooler and felt a difference? Any new updates on your overall impressions etc?

I’m getting etuned by Derek actually. The response is better compared to HKS and the temps observed are lower.

Will this IC bolt on to HKS piping?
I am currently running HKS with HKS piping..
wonder if this C&R core is direct replacement .

I am currently running HKS with HKS piping..
wonder if this C&R core is direct replacement .
its a direct replacement to OEM. I don't think it will bolt up to the HKS hot side pipe but if the cold side outlet is the same as OEM it should bolt up to the HKS piping.

I'm using mine with PRL piping that i already had when i used to run a PRL FMIC.

Are you noticing any issues when driving on the street with this?

I was talking to my tuner about possible IC choices and he offered this advice:

Considering the intercooler, while PWR/C&R make an excellent product and I would question the ability of their intercooler to do its job, my concern is just in the tube/fin design. While they are quite efficient & good for prolonged track use without heat soaking, they are quicker to heat up in traffic, more prone to leaks, and less resilient to road debris than a bar/plate intercooler. So I guess it depends how often you track the vehicle, but if it's more of a street car I would go with the likes of a PRL billet, bar & plate intercooler for the durability factor alone.
Would love to you know your thoughts as well.

The C&R Intercooler is an *extruded* tube and fin intercooler. It is different from a standard tube and fin intercooler. I daily drive my FK8 about 60 miles a day and don't experience any issues with reliability. IATs are only a part of the equation too, though they are important. The C&R IC sheds heat so quickly that it "heatsoaking" in traffic is of no concern to me.

Some data to share from a recent 3rd gear pull I did for etuning.

This pull was done after a 30 minute commute home on the highway. 3rd gear WOT from 2k RPM to redline.

IAT observed at start of pull: 89F
IAT observed at end of pull: 71F
IAT 2 observed at end of pull: 65F

Ive never had the PRL just the HKS. A lot of my friends switched over from PRL to C&R/HKS and have experienced better IATs on track. Don’t have too much street data
