Hello!

Currently an owner of Jaguar F-TYPE coupe. 3.0 liter supercharged V6. My lease is coming up in February and I'm eager to get back to the Honda brand. The F-TYPE has the looks, power and sound but the driving dynamics leave much to be desired. Here is my F-TYPE now:
Honda Civic 10th gen Bye Bye Jaguar F-TYPE; HELLO Civic SI! 80-image_d451ac7783c00862ee41e192903bca8a6d57a776

My previous cars included:
-2001 Honda Civic EX
-2002 Honda Accord Coupe
-2006 Honda Accord Coupe
-2002 Honda S2000
-2007 Acura TSX
-2007 Honda S2000
-2015 Jaguar F-TYPE
-2016 Jaguar F-TYPE (Current)

Both my S2000's were modified for track use.

I might get some flack for "downgrading" but for me, its about driving dynamics. The F-TYPE despite its all aluminium construction weighs in at a portly 4000+lbs. I've been researching the new Civic Si. Sounds like the high revving nature of Honda engines are gone.

See you guys around on the forums!

Buy one, Hondata reflash, and you'll be in love.

My car is bone stock save for the back-up and the interior lights changed to LEDs, along with the headlight bulbs changed to modified-to-fit-stock-H11-housings H9 bulbs.... I love it!

Welcome!

Strange choice coming from an Ftype. Nonetheless, welcome!

I like my SI but yeah I am still going to say its gonna be a downgrade haha

IMO if you are expecting s2000-like fun from this gen SI you could be disappointed :/ (This is coming from a former 2007 SI owner as I really miss VTEC)

You really can't beat British design..but I got into an F-TYPE because a very special offer I took advantage of through Jaguar. $1500 down for $510/month on a 3 year lease. While most of the general public have the perception that Jaguar's aren't reliable, expensive to maintain, etc..my experience with my F-TYPE has been positive which wouldn't make me hesitate to buy one so I was entertaining the idea of potentially buying out the lease but the payment would nearly double. I'm not interested in a near $1000 payment for 5-6 years.

While Jaguar has come around in terms of modern designs and segments (Jaguar XE vs BMW 3 series, XF VS 5 series, etc) the aftermarket industry has yet to produce anything worthwhile. Example...the F-TYPE uses an ancient 5x108 bolt pattern for its wheels; something that came from the days of when Ford owned Jaguar and Volvo. Heres a fun fact, even though Ford no longer owns Jaguar, some of the parts on the F-TYPE have "FoMoCo" (Ford Motor Company) still stamped on them.

The Civic SI would probably be a good compromise on handling and practicality and I would pay it off in about 2 years if not sooner. Not to mention the near limitless options for aftermarket options. If the SI becomes the choice for me, it would be a White Orchid Pearl with bronze Volk Racing TE37 wheels! Sure, I'll be down on power and torque but Honda's to me aren't about power. Its about balance and finesse. My S2000s weren't the quickest on the straights but they sure hauled ass around a corner!

My 2017 Si sedan is my 4th Honda. I just love the way they drive! So much fun.

Same here. When I told people I was considering a Civic Coupe, no one believes me. They all thougth I would replace my CLK350 with a C300 Coupe.

To the OP, will you get a 2017 now or wait for 2018?

I'm going to wait until mid year 2018. I figure by then any changes or issues that were apparent in 2017 will be corrected/addressed by then.

Problem is 2017 SI was released only a few months ago (April or May 2017). The salesman did say that the 2018 would be released in a few weeks, not sure if this includes the SI.

If I know how long we have to wait for 2018 SI, it would be easier to make a decision.

Big downgrade. Why you'd go from such a nice looking and relatively rare model, to one that sells over 50,000 / month, leaves me scratching my head.

Nonetheless, welcome!

seeing Ken Jeong in the recent Xiidra dry eye commercial made me revisit the idea about getting a jaguar type F. I am not a stranger to maintaining Volkswagen diesels and my current Honda civic touring Coupe, I have always wondered what having a jaguar type F would be like. So thatā€™s how I stumbled across your post just wondering how youā€™re doing with your Honda Civic purchase.

IMO: you're not gonna get that from the SI. The 10 gens do have awesome handling but lack alot of character in the engine. IMO
Side note I'm stock so my opinion isn't as valid as tuned people.

Congrats on the new car!
I was going to sell my supercharged SS Camaro 42k miles 6MT (620 whp) for a Type R, but couldnā€™t do it. Bought a 2020 Civic Sport Sedan 6MT outright in cash for a daily driver. However Iā€™m going to be getting rid of my civic next February for a new Toyota GR86 for my next daily. (Civic should have around 5000 miles when I trade it in)
Youā€™re going to love the Si! Congrats, I simply prefer RWD.
