Buying a used Type R

This has been running through my head lately since I will have a decent amount of cash after my house sale. There are a lot of other options out there, but since I've been a Honda owner for 40 years, I was looking at a 2021 Boost Blue with less than 50k miles on it. Just not sure about it 100%. Another thought was a 10th gen Accord 2.0T, which might not be a bad option since my wife would probably drive that with an auto trans. I plan on fixing my 17 Touring Coupe and paying it off and keeping it.
Anyone have opinions on these 2 options or maybe a different brand? I still would like something with decent performance. I plan on at least test driving an R since I've never driven one before.

You can find plenty of FK8 examples for your budget. A Type R test drive will ruin other "fun" Hondas for you. I thought my 2022 Si was special until I drove the Type R

I used to have an Si. I test drove my brother's Type R. Here I am now nearly five years later

I was the same way. Dealership I bought my SI acquired a 2019 type R. I test drove it, and that was all it took. Not to mention the fact that it only has just under 19000 miles compared to my 18 Si that had over 85000.

One more vote for the Type R (FK8). Speaking from eight years of owning Hondas, plus all the others I have driven.
Every time I look at alternatives just for my own amusement - I realize how impossible it is to get a better total package. Even if budget is not a consideration.
I could only do better by having a lot more cars and breaking out the Type R strengths into two or three vehicles. One for fun, one that always runs for not much money, and one that hauls people and cargo.

I love my 19 Si coupe, it’s so much fun to drive still but you’re correct, once you test drive a R, you can’t stop thinking about it. Exactly what happened to me. And why I have a very large car payment for a very long time.

Well unfortunately, it may not happen. Expenses are dwindling away my finances and even though I'm in nice house, the neighbors seem nice enough, this neighborhood isn't the greatest.

I imagine the theft potential for an R is much higher. That’s a consideration. Another thing is most insurance companies still consider the R, just a civic.
it ended up being 8$ cheaper to insure than the 22 2.0t accord I was looking at.

Yeah I feel you man same here in Milwaukee Im noticing more of our tax dollars not going to where they should be(roads, snow removal, hiring cops and fire fighters) yet every year theres a increase in property and sales taxes for the city and county. So leads me to question where the fuck its going if not to controlling the city from looking like a war torn third world country
