honestly noticed this when I got my windows tinted a year and a half ago. Wasn’t sure if it was from the heat gun they used or what but I just let it be. But now curiosity has gotten the best of me so anybody know what could have caused this? For the record they’re the oem that my sport came with

Yeah if they left the heat on there too long that could be the culprit. The other thing is, at the end of the day, these cars don’t have the finest fit and finish so I could see something like this being a factory defect issue

It’s like that on almost all R’s I’ve personally seen. I had the dealership replace mine under warranty. I think it’s just from sun/heat exposure.

My 2019 has rubber trim that looks wonky in places. Like it wasn't fitted properly at the factory.
I just live with it.

Can confirm, mine has that too. Probably applied at factory poorly. If it gets bad enough, maybe I'll replace it myself, but it's fine to me.

I just had all four pieces(each window) replaced under warranty. if you do have warranty left, go back and complain.

Most type R owners I've met in person notice the same issue.

I got my front windows retinted today and as expected it did get a little worse. it would normally be whatever, but on one of them it started peeling upwards and it just looks like chrome underneath? Are the sport trims just chrome wrapped in black? Either way I think I’m going to try to get my local dealer to replace them cause if that’s the case it’s seriously bullshit and deceptive.
