Yesterday I installed some ECCPP 25mm wheel spacers for the rear wheels on my FK7 Hatchback. I jacked up each side individually. I used blue loctite and torqued the spacers down to 90ft/lbs. Then when I put the left wheel back on and torqued the lugs down to 82ft/lbs and unjacked the car, the top half of the locking lug snapped off. I had to take some pliers to twist the broken back half off but luckily I had some spare lugs put those one. Happened to both rear wheels and I'm not sure why. After swapping the broken locking lugs with the regular spare lugs it seemed to be fine and I drove yesterday just fine. Please let me know if you can think of what went wrong or I did wrong. Thanks!

How confident are you in your torque wrench?

I'm fairly confident. It's a Teng Tools torque wrench

Did the stud bottom out in the lug nut? Maybe the spacer studs are longer than the factory studs?
Those lock nuts will do that when they bottom out, its not from being over torqued, seen alot of lock nuts break like that due to incorrect wheels, spacers, steel rims etc from bottoming out, those things are junk anyways.

If that is the issue, better get the other three addressed quickly, before you bounce one and make a new surface shape on the rear door....

Wow, you just reminded me that the exact same thing happened on my first set of spacers on my Sport Hatch I had a couple of years ago. I had to go to the dealer and get some non locking lug nuts. That is exactly what happened here.

So did the non locking lugs work fine with them? Cuz I have those on now and I'm not sure if I should be worried
