Drove my EX-T 6-speed manual to Quebec City for the weekend. Highway speeds average 65 - 70. AC was on most of the time. Limited driving within the (very hilly) city.

Average mpg 50.6.

Photo taken when I was back in Portland, ME.

Looks like a range of some 563 miles with this tank.

What octane fuel are you using? Big diff from 87 to 93 but you are in Canada? Are you using 94? 95?

U.S. Gas. 87 Octane! (With up to 10% corn squeezin's)

When I drive west in two weeks, I'll do my best to use 100% real gas; which is often 91 Octane. I expect it will be better then!

Great mileage there, I've hit about 530 miles (about 850 km) but I know if I'm careful I can break 560 miles (900 km.) Also an ex-t with the 6 speed.

This past month I'm averaging 53MPG and using 87 octane exclusively. At an additional 60 cents per gallon for premium I don't think an additonal 1-2 mpg would be worth it.

I've been searching the internet for confirmation that higher octane gases will result in higher MPG. So far, I can't find any "scientific" evidence. Lots of anecdotal tales but nothing reliable. Given the lack of evidence it's probably pretty unlikely that higher octane will result in any significant increase in MPG. (Now with HP and performance that is a different story).

How...the hell...are you...getting this high MPG...???

Is this the range it estimates on the full tank (46 litres) or it is a guesstimate of the range until range indicates 0 but there is still some reserve fuel in the tank?

Shhh bby it's ok

50+ is easy depending on location and speed. An entire tank of that is impressive though. Shows a lot of restraint.

nice job.
On my 50 mile commute in hilly South West Wisconsin, I've tested different speeds and mpgs
74 mph = 38 mpgs 40.5 minute travel time
70/71 = 41 mpgs 43 min
65 = 46 mpgs 46 min
60 = 52 mpgs 50 minute travel time
so depending on how quick i need to get to/from work...

Higher octane may not make a huge difference, but pure gasoline with 0% ethanol often improves mileage. Premium fuel seems to be more likely to be ethanol free, at least around here.

sman,
Here in central Wisconsin (Clark/Jackson County) I pretty much get the same mileage although I don't tempt the police with 70+ MPH. My 45mile commute is totally on 55mph highways.

With cruise control on, I do use the ECON button.

When I'm really driving, the ECON is off because I can really feel a difference in performance.

Premium should bump the horsepower a bit, but I've not seen much difference in mpg's.

Real Gas definitely make an mpg difference! Search Pure-Gas.org for a station near you!

My very first tank of gas. 494 miles. 10.04 gallons. Never used the Econ button.

6MT - 87 octane.

Last 350 miles or so I'm getting like 53 mpg.
