MY GOD, has anyone had such an issue trying to take out their pins that hold the pads in, in the front....? mine appear to have seized at some point in their life span and after inflicting some cosmetic damage due to frustration, I gave it a break.

Thoroughly pissed, and now I need some red paint.

Retract the pads/pistons before punching the pins out. Punch the lower pin out first and reinstall it last. The lower pin has more room than the top to manuever any tools around. Also easier to fully install the top pin first.

That sounds difficult when you consider the limited mobility of the pads while pins are in.

I just think my pins happen to be rusted tight and my hammer tends to agree.

You don't have a caliper piston press that fits to retract the pads? If not, and you're going to do your own repairs, invest in the right tools.

I'm not sure how you are fitting a piston press while pads and pins are still installed, there just doesn't seem like any room.

The tool has edges. The pad backing has edges. Edges meet edges. Press. Tadah!

a narrow punch + hammer makes it a piece of cake to take out...

So many people say bbk's are easier to change pads but thats really far from the truth hahah...floating rotors are much easier

That's what I've been using, my pins are just badly seized and don't seem like they are coming out anytime soon.

That's crazy. Did you try spraying a little penetrating oil? Maybe even try going out for a drive first and heating the brakes up really good. Heat = expansion and can make them come off easily

I gave my pins a light coating of anti-seize for next time
