Brakes are making noise

So, this has been something I noticed from the time I first drove my car. It was used, but only had about 4,000 miles on it. The brakes make sort of a grinding sound when I let off of them if I was stopped on a slope and then rolled down it. They also squeak slightly when I roll slowly while also on the brakes.

Sorry, it's hard to explain, basically they make a grunting/grinding sound on hills, and squeak slightly at lower speeds. Do I need new pads, rotors, or should I look at just upgrading my brakes altogether?

Check the pads, they could be worn and/or you could have a sticking caliper… try to determine what wheel it’s coming from

Thanks, when I change my oil soon I will also look at brakes. I planned to upgrade the rotors and pads anyway.
