I bought this Boost Blue 2020 in July 2022 as my 37th birthday present. I have an EM2 Si as a daily car so this is purely for fun.

2 years old, ex-lease car with 29000km.
Full service history. Extremely clean apart from some slight scuff marks on the edge of the spoiler. No stone chips or other damage anywhere.

Clear coat needs a slight correction - nothing I canā€™t handle.

I spent close to 2 years searching for the right performance car, I looked at everything from M2 competitions to Camaro 1LEs.

Nothing else felt as special as the type R.

I walked into the dealership on a Saturday morning, checked over the car, test drove it, did the deal and took it home that afternoon!

The car came with window deflectors, black lug nuts and aftermarket tail lights (which Iā€™m still unsure aboutā€¦.) other than that, fully stock.

I learned the car for a month on a few local mountain passes then decided how I wanted to proceed.

Firstly I installed:
Acuity Stage 3 with the shifter linkage upgrade, 1924 collar and an Esco shift knob.

Ordered:
Spoon progressive lowering springs
Spoon zero bump steer kit
Spoon rigid collars front and rear
Spoon stiff plate

Once they are installed, Iā€™m thinking a Spoon carbon bucket seat and some brake upgrades.

For the moment I will be sticking with the stock power, stock exterior, exhaust and wheel/tyre setup. I still believe this car has a lot to offer chassis wise before anything power wise needs to be addressed.

If all goes to plan, I will drive from Vancouver to Laguna Seca next July to lap the track. Hitting up as many track days/events as possible along the way.

My Spoon parts arrived courtesy of Nengun - Iā€™m in two minds as to whether I have these installed now or wait until after I paint correct and ceramic coat the car.

Acuity stage 3 and shifter bushings installed. Very straight forward installation process for this one. Ran everything at setting 3 for a couple of weeks then adjusted the lever height to setting 5 (tallest setting) - Fantastic piece of kit, big thanks to Russ as well, some of the best customer service Iā€™ve encountered.

Picked up some new detailing supplies and equipment for the car. It currently has two small paint chips and some slight scuffs on the outer edge of the spoiler. It could also do with a very light clear coat correction. The previous owner appears to have taken very good care of it but itā€™s 2 years old. Oh wellā€¦.

I will update with progress photos as I colour match and correct these before paint correction and ceramic coating.

Will be using a combination of the Makita DPO600Z, Rupes ibrid and Sonax before applying Gtechniq Crystal serum light and Gtechniq Exo V4.

Itā€™s a little difficult to capture on video, but you can see the swirling and scratches on the edge of the body line. This is the passenger side of the hood.

I canā€™t seem to post multiple videos within the same post, so video number 2:

The first half of the car corrected easily with a combination of a Rupes Blue and Cutmax using either 5ā€ forced rotation or the 1ā€ on a 12mm throw.

It finished down well for a compound, bear in mind I have not polished or jewelled in surface yet, so itā€™s only step 1 of 3.

Two things to note:

1: Our paint is no where near as soft as most people make it out to be. Using multiple types of light to track progress (you wonā€™t see everything by eye with a single type of lighting) , the surface swirls dissipate easily but the deeper stuff is relatively tough to eliminate.

2: The Rupes Ibrid nano gets a lot of unfair review for stalling or lack of corrective power. Having learned this machine, itā€™s far better than the alternatives , it is very impressive when used correctly. If you are having issues with it, it is not setup correctly.

I have ordered two complete kits from Scratches Happen - one black - one blue and a deluxe set of ZL1 addons. Will update when they arrive.

Compounding phase is complete, hereā€™s a few more before and after pics showing progress of the door jams.

I assume you got your Boost Blue from Morrey Nissan Burnaby? If yes, then I almost bought your car as I had to cancel my test drive in early July when my Father-In-Law was unexpectedly admitted to Burnaby Hospital for an emergency.

I ended picking up a low mileage 2018 FK8 in CW a month later. My car is currently under the knife and getting a few cosmetic mods and a PRL HVI.

I have a Rupes iBrid and a few of the larger Rupes random orbital polishers too. Great machines and I use Meguiars pastes and compounds with good success before ceramic coating. Have fun modding your car.
