I purchased this blox racing 58mm throttle body for my Si. Will install in a few weeks with my PRL intercooler kit. Has anybody bought installed this? Any issues with the throttle by wire?

The stock throttle body goes from 56mm and tapers to 50mm, this throttle body goes from 58mm tapering to 56mm. I plan on going with a drop in turbo in the future so any increase in flow will be benefitial.

Thanks in advance for any input.

That's great but is the oem intake manifold opening even large enough for 56mm?
Upon my first researches it seem the intake manifold is just large enough for the oem TB.(50-51mm)
It needs to be the same size as the Blox TB ,and even better would be slightly larger to create a anti reversion step .The oem plastic intake manifold can't be bored out either because it has the sealing gasket there and its not round either...

If the throttle body is larger than oem intake manifold then the manifold needs to be upgraded to a larger size which some companies do have.

Well if i'm going from the info blox gives with their TB it seems the oem intake manifold is large enough to fit a 58mm TB because it reuses the oem o-ring gasket.

Blox Racing Throttle Body for the Civic FC7/FK7!

One area the L15B7 needed immediate improvement was the throttle body. The OEM throttle body measures 56mm at the opening but tapers down to a narrow 50.5mm at the manifold. This taper chokes incoming air and robs the engine of potential power.

BLOX Racing's newest throttle bodies are available in 56mm and 58mm bores sizes, with minimal tapering. Each is CNC machined from billet aluminum and incorporates a new drive-by-wire motor. BLOX Racing has spent months road testing making sure there was not corruption between the drive-by-wire motor and ECU.

The larger throttle bodies offer increases in airflow resulting in additional horsepower and torque gains. Throttle bodies include hardware and reuse the factory's O-ring gasket.

Comparison

  • Stock: opening measures 56mm and tapers to 50.5mm
  • 56mm: opening measures 58mm and tapers to 56mm (+11% larger than stock)
  • 58mm: opening measures 59mm and tapers to 58mm (+15% larger than stock)

I’m curious about this product from Blox. But I haven’t seen a lot of owners replacing their stock TB to a bigger one an a 10th gen Civic.

For the Type R I’ve seen a few but not as much on the L15 engine.

When I replace I'll measure the manifold opening.

Please update us and let us know your thoughts. I was thinking about picking one of these up but had a hard time with the idea of it actually helping, at least while I'm still on the stock turbo

I bought an extra gasket in case I need it and it looks like it sits pretty much even with the edge of the throttle body. The o-ring might sit 1mm larger than throttle so the manifold should be a pretty close match.

Then i don't think your tb goes from 58mm to 56mm .You have the 58mm tb that goes to 59mm on the intercooler piping side.
It even says so on the box 58mm...
It's still weird Because the gasket has a 2-3mm wall of plastic Between it so this TB is too large for the OEM intake.

Looks like that's the max you can go on a stock intake manifold.
Yeah it is maxed out. Any bigger wouldn't seal on the gasket.

You'll have a 2-3 MM Edge against flow...
I would measure the stock intake manifold before installing this if i where you..

I measured the ID is 58mm on the manifold side. When I replace I'll measure the ID of the manifold and post it here so it's clear to everyone. It may be 1-2mm smaller than the TB. Will know for sure in a few weeks.

Finally installed the 58mm throttle body, prl fmic kit, braided slave cylinder line, Whiteline 26mm rear sway, as well as deleted slave cylinder delay valve.

As far as the throttle body goes the manifold opening is teardrop shaped so on the area of the circle it was 57mm but at the tear drop end it was wider than the throttle body. So it is way less of a restriction than the of
Og throttle body. Especially now with the Intercooler piping upsized it even flow through the TB.

What kind of difficulty did you have removing the OE throttle body? I had a hard enough time seeing back there just doing the silicone coupler for the FMIC haha.
