Black dust in engine bay

I was checking engine bay compartment for any leaks and noticed black dust accumulation right below the firewall. It wiped right off but had some greasy fill to it. Any idea what part is it on and how did oil/grease got on the exterior of it?

Very well could be but i’m not 100% sure. Any idea what part the dust is on?

As soon as I read the title of the post, I was thinking something pcv-related (and not typical). Is the OP venting to atmosphere? Otherwise, check your npt threaded and barbed connectors and make sure you didn't cross-thread the can when tightening.

I wiped it off a while ago and it never came back.
