Hey ladies and gents

I’m new here and just learning how to post and communicate on these forums.

some of you may know me from past cars I have built or the Instagram name.

I have recently picked up a 2020 civic si and I have a few questions about the car.

anyone notice the vibration when turning off the car ?
Anyone notice the engine rocking when stop and go ?

are these common things associated with this generation ?

thanks gents

I hear a whirring sound behind the steering column one or two seconds after I press the Stop button. Probably the steering motor locking up.

Don't know what you mean by rocking. Can't say I have that. Maybe you didn't give enough gas on take off?

Yup I get the vibration when turning off the car. Doesn’t matter if I drove for a long period of time or a short period. Always vibrates a little.

The vibration on shut down is normal. It's just the mass of the crank, flywheel and internals fighting compression as it loses velocity after turning off the ignition.

The rocking - it's probably just the on and off-throttle torque you're talking about and it's because the 2020 has a final drive gear of 4:35:1 which is very torquey.

thanks for the reply

I’m referring to the car feeling like it needs mounts.

When I take off in first it almost feels like the engine mounts are very soft
I’m guessing this is because I’m use to driving Honda’s with solid mounts ?

either way , cars getting lowered today on H and R springs

I think I need a lip

any suggestions besides cutting up a type r lip ?

All common. Nothing to worry about.
thanks , I’m thinking of upgrading the rear mount , anyone else do this ? Find any difference with changing out one mount over a full kit ?

Be prepared for vibration if you get anything other than a street version of the rear mount. Even those have been said to vibrate until broken in.

I'm pretty sure I know the feeling you're describing because my Intrepid has a Transgo shift kit and it rocks the transmission mount hard when shifting under full or "spirited" throttle.

I haven't read any complaints about mounts being "too soft", but it wouldn't surprise me. The engine has a lot of low end torque being turbocharged so it makes sense to me that they want to try to absorb that as best they can for comfort. It also tells me they wouldn't last long. ;)

The RMM is a popular solution to the jerking at low speeds, but ride comfort will suffer.
