I hope everyone is having a good week and hopefully I’m posting in the correct forum.

My OEM battery died in my 2020. I currently have it garaged and prior to discovering the dead battery I haven’t started it for 3 months. It’s probably due for a replacement anyways due to its age and I only have young 6K miles on it.

What are good battery replacements out there that I should consider besides going to the local Honda dealership and getting my pants and wallet ripped off. I tried to jump start the battery using those portable chargers but the battery terminal (neg) was in an awkward position and (pos) terminal was way too thick for those wimpy alligator clips to grab onto so I was pretty bummed.

If anyone has any recommendations I would gladly appreciate the info. I won’t be able to get to the car for another month or so as I live in two different states so I left the battery still attached. There is no sign of corrosion on the terminals so I guess it’s ok. I’m also looking to getting another portable battery charger that has alligator clips big enough to grab onto the terminals in case I’m stuck someplace with a dead battery.

Thanks in advanced!

I would recommend that you consider a good battery charger/mainter with whatever battery you go with, since it sounds like you don't drive your car for extended periods of time. I use Battery Tender brand, but I know others that use Noco. It will help with the life of your battery and ensure it doesn't go flat when you do go to drive it. I have a 2019 with the original battery and it is still going strong, but at five+ years old it probably is nearing the end of its life.

As far as batteries, I'll look at an AGM type.

Man we must have the same vibes because that’s exactly what my close Compadre recommended to me. Battery Tender Plus.

If both you guys recommend it then I’m sold. Thanks again for the recommendation!!

I replaced the original battery with an Interstate from Costco.

I have an Odyssey in mine the past 3 years. When it's not being driven or in storage, there's a Noco Genius 5 attached to it. Never a problem.

Speaking of Odyssey, my 2006 battery is dead as well so the Type R has a partner. The battery drain is caused by a parasitic current draw that’s related to faulty left side sliding door. Another issue I have to deal with otherwise the car is solid all around. 2 dead batteries just my luck.
