In all fairness to the digital side, most of my digital copies and such were done over a decade ago, back when I had time of course, and nothing has really changed on the standards side. Some years ago I realized that my original copies, at 128K, did sound bad. So I switched almost everything up to 256K and that helped a lot. But my point is, both were in MP3, which is quite the standard and hasn't been "upgraded" yet.So he's supposed to use a newer technology just because everyone else is? Tell that to the vinyl fans.
I agree with PaulRAnderson. I have about the same # of CD's, and would rather use them than to transfer everything to a digital format, only to have to do it again and again with each upgrade. I also like to look at the paper inserts. Ask any professional musician, digital music (and especially Apple and itunes) has ruined the music business. I've never bought digital audio and hope I never have to.
Point being we have codecs that retain 100% of the digital code from CD. Or so close that the average human ear couldn't tell the difference in any listening environment except a studio. As suggested above, if we keep the sampling rate high or convert to FLAC/ALAC, the problem is essentially mute. Especially with the proliferation of smartphones in vehicles. But that wouldn't make sense because 8-tracks sound bad. CD's don't.
I meant when you upgrade devices you store the files on; not file type.In all fairness to the digital side, most of my digital copies and such were done over a decade ago, back when I had time of course, and nothing has really changed on the standards side. I do agree that many times CD's sound better, but a true audiophile knows that there actually are quite a few bad sounding CD's on the market. Fortunately places like Amazon that have customer reviews will help to "out" these poor CD recordings.
Also, as a fan and owner of vinyl and vintage stereo equipment, I do appreciate all forms of music. As far as I am concerned, a car is not an ideal environment for SQ. Once underway, the road noise, wind noise, tire rumble, interior resonances, etc screw up even a great sounding system...technically. So, running digital copies in a car is no sin to me. Just take the time to rip them in 256K MP3, and use good software to sort out the Metadata/tags so you get correct track/album info and correct album artwork, you'll only need to do it once. In my HiFi at home, I either use vinyl, or my 24 bit Burr-Brown CD player with known good CD's.
Anyways, it wouldn't hurt if Honda offered a CD changer or something....
omgg!!!! Im sooooo excitedddddd.
Pretty sure they did not use a unit with expansion thoughts in their mind. Yet the only way to be sure if for someone to actually take a peek inside. How possible is it the deck they used has expansion availability? The more and more these dash clusters control half the vehicle the less likely I feel ill be able to add in an amp and subwoofer of my choosing.
Bummer. Hopefully there are some stock rear inputs that we can take control of. I really don't think I'll be able to afford the Touring to get the extra wattage, but I know I'll want to swap/add some speakers.Pretty sure they did not use a unit with expansion thoughts in their mind. Which Trim Civic do you think you will be getting?Bummer. Hopefully there are some stock rear inputs that we can take control of. I really don't think I'll be able to afford the Touring to get the extra wattage, but I know I'll want to swap/add some speakers.
Kind of depends on my financing options, but most likely the EX-T with the sensing. It's at top end of my budget, but the amount of car you get for the price is too good to pass up.Which Trim Civic do you think you will be getting?
Oh, and a random question, but were you living in Kansas decades ago when it was renamed Topikachu, Kansas, for like a day?
Sorry I completely missed this for some reason. No I wasn't, fortunately. I've only been here for 4 years and have about a year left before I move elsewhere. Cannot wait either.Oh, and a random question, but were you living in Kansas decades ago when it was renamed Topikachu, Kansas, for like a day?
