1.5T Are there any tuners that do not need to be plugged in to run a custom tune after flashing?

I'd really like to flash a light tune on my '21 Civic 1.5T CVT. But the only way this would be feasible is if the tune could be set, and then run without a tuning device plugged in.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but I thought I'd ask. Reason being is that i have a Comma two with openpilot. If you're not familiar with openpilot, it basically makes your car semi-autonomous on the highway, adding longitudinal steering.

A Y OBDII splitter is not an option - you can't really split an OBDII since it can only support 1 instruction set at a time. This would mean adding a second device would compromise my comma two's reliability which is a major safety concern.

Lol. Both Ktuner and Hondata can be removed after flashing a tune.

Map 1 isn't necessarily stock. Depends on the tune. And if you used KTuner's on the fly map switching setup you can swap between maps 1, 2 and 3 at will with the cc buttons anytime.

With the cruise control buttons? Does that mean cruise control won't work?

or do you mean the buttons on the left part of the steering wheel?

Trying to decide between Hondata and ktuner. Hondata is $200 more expensive but they can jailbreak the ECU remotely (you need to jailbreak with both right?)

Jailbreak ????

Do me a favor. Check out some of my extensive tuning related threads to learn more.

Side note: KTuner is superior to Hondata in most ways.

Jailbreak is for type r.
Both ktuner and hondata allow to flash and remove the device.

If you want to see real time parameters or logging you need to have it plugged in.

Don’t forget when you purchase an off the shelf tune such as TSP stage 1, you can ask for a reverse mapping which changes the most powerful map to 1 instead of 3 so you can run the most power while having the tuner unplugged.

You use the same buttons as cruise control but you turn it off to change maps then enable it again.

If you just want to run one tune then you just plug in, flash, and then unplug and go. Unless you want to get a custom tune. Then you will have to keep it plugged in to datalog for the tuner. Other than that you will not need to leave it plugged in unless you want to read stuff off the KTuner screen, if that's what you get.
