Hey everyone! Are the revised 2020 Civic Type R's still overheating on warmer track days? I am curious as to whether this overheat problem has been remedied with the 2020 changes.

Would love to hear feedback from those that have tracked their 2020's!!

Has the heat soak on hot and gross days been remedied at least with the 2020s? In summer after a few pulls my car feels a lot slower probably due to the engine heat soaking hard from the inadequate cooling. This is just driving around. The temperature gauge never moves but the car feels noticeably more sluggish on these kind of days.

The car is pulling power due to hot charge air temps

I know, it feels like it drops 50-60 hp at times depending on the day. That's why I wonder if the different grille of the 2020 has any impact on at least mitigating that.

Every turbo car I've ever owned behaves like this on hot days. My old MS3 with the top mount intercooler was the worst, but my GTI did it too. I think it's just endemic to a small turbo drivetrain.

dont see how the grille would affect the intercooler efficiency

Your intercooler is heat soaking. The grill isn’t going to help that unfortunately.

That's ridiculous if that's the IC. Why is it so inefficient? That's almost a required modification if you like driving your car hard in warm weather.

My bad, still learning.

It’s on the smaller size so it heats up quickly. A larger one will still eventually heat soak, but since they’re heavier, it’ll take longer for that to happen.
