CTR's visual aspect that I dislike quite a bit is the black plasticky fender vents. They look so cheap and out of place. . . . So I have been thinking of getting carbon fiber fender vents. Seems like there are 3 general options: a full replacement (Seibon), an overlay (Pimpmycivic), or an eBay junk cover.

Has anyone installed any of these? If so, are you happy with the quality of carbon fiber, fit and finish, and fitment? Are there any other options?

Seibon ($476 from resellers; $560 from Seibon)

There's another option. You can remove them and bring them to a vinyl graphic shop and have them wrapped in a 3M carbon fiber look vinyl. Not 100% how good that vinyl adheres to plastic, but it's worth calling around to a couple local shops and asking.

Piggy backing off this...you can go to a hydrographic dip and get any pattern you want to really personalize or change the appearance.

IMO go real or do nothing.

Why pay a lot for a car you love only to half ass your mods?

It might be slower if you buy real, getting money, etc... But you'll be happier in the long run.
X100. Half the mods I see on these things are horrible cheap stuff. You bought a 35-40k top of the line Civic might as well do it right.

Sort of in line with what others said - if you're not happy with the plastic, are you going to be happy with an overlay? Just wait another pay period and get the Seibon real carbon ones, and have a nice afternoon with parts strewn about all over the garage. Otherwise, you're probably just putting off doing it a second time.

IIRC the overlay and the seibon cf are the same material: fiberglass core with cf overlay.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the main difference is that one is a full piece you swap out and other is a overlay.
In summary, both are technically fake cf.

The main difference is that the Seibon part replaces the entire part, and is carbon on all surfaces. The PimpMyRide part slips into the vent and only covers the part of the factory vent that is on the same plane as the door. The rest of the factory vent is exposed and plastic.

Also, FWIW, almost all carbon fiber components are carbon with a layer of fiberglass under it. I don't know how that would make a difference in the decision.
