Anyone used the factory towing-points to recover/pull a CTR?

As above really, I've looked under the car at the factory towing rings on the civic and I'm concerned these are too low for recovery. I'm wondering if the angle of the tow-rope using these will literally destroy either the front or rear bumper if used?

I can work this out by attaching a strap and raising to the height of a usual tow-bar on a 4x4, but experience is worth more than an estimation, so does anyone have experience?

Cheers.

Correct that the angle will be too steep for the bumpers?
I'd like to buy approved tow-hooks but they're unavailable in the uk atm.

I think FK8RVA is saying don't use the shipping tie downs on the underside of the car, rather use the accessory tow hook which attaches to the rear bumper.

Ah thanks, I didn't realise that's what they were. I've seen some J's racing front/rear hooks but at £350 they seem steep considering a 3000kg rated strap is only £20.
Is the oem tow-hook thread size an M18 do you know?
I'm feeling inclined to buy a pair of straps and bolt those were the factory tow-eye would thread for track-day rules only.

Correct, the in the rear bumper on the left side a chunk of car comes off and you can insert a rear tow hook. (its in the hatch, opposite the subwoofer)

For the front you need to order a tow hook / adaptor. I use Evasive Motorsports, its was $300 total USD and took about 15 minutes to install. Minus the trip to Lowe's for a 2ft socket extension.

I can't see where to attach a tow eyelet on the front of my Civic. The manual points to a tow hook that should be accessable/visible through the air dam on the drivers side, but it also states that this isn't on all models. With the bumper off I can't see anywhere obvious at all. I've measured the thread on the tow eye that comes with the car (for the rear) and it's an M18 x 10g, so quite a substantial thread.
There is a tow hook underneath the car on the drivers side, but as I said before I'd expect the angle of the rope would cause damage to the bumper.
WTF?

Thanks for the info, so in this case I'm guessing the civic isn't made to be towed from the front if there isn't an oem anchor point?

As above, you will need an aftermarket tow hook to toe from the front. There is an OEM metal loop in the front, but it is very low and set back; there is no way to use it without destroying the bumper.

I believe at least some of them can be installed without removing the front bumper. I have the raceseng one, and you should be able to install by just removing the passenger faux-vent

The Evasive Motorsports one I installed by just removing and cutting the passenger side fake vent - you will need to open up a few of the honeycombs.

I have the 2021 model so there is no honeycomb. There also doesn't appear to be any UK sellers that have the adpater for the facelift.

Order from a US seller. Cut a hole in the plastic.
