I am well aware that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S has a 300 UTQG rating and is not going to be the fastest tire by any means but if you have enough camber is it able to handle track type heat? I am thinking the 265/35-18 size. Usually the higher performance the tire is, the more resistant it is to overheating but it would be nice to have a tire that is both streetable and trackable even if not the fastest. Maybe I am just asking too much of the tire.

Believe it or not, I am looking for tires with UTQG rating over 250. Agree the Falken is fine but I would likely pick the Hankook RS4 if going to a 200 rating.

Have track 2 times with the PS4S 265/35/18. They get greasy very soon after 3-4 hot laps and you will notice the less grip after a few lap.
They are great for street, but not really capable in track use.
Going with Nitto NT01 now and that is a huge difference.

PS4S class is really a street tire, but for track you will need more aggressive tires.

I am a huge fan of NT01s on other cars. Never the fastest but really consistent and very easy to drive. Did you use the 275/35-18 size? Any fitment issues?

Good to know. I have Titan 7 wheels as well with a 45 mm offset.

I put 7 days on my set of PS4S. Not the fastest tire and they got greasy on the 3rd lap for me. It’s cool having grip on the outlap though. I switched to RS4s and found they wore similarly to the PS4S but gave much better grip.

I have used RS4s on a low powered endurance race car with great success. Used RS3s on my Corvette and they overheated very quickly. I guess it really is too much to ask a tire to be ok in both the street and track environments. Long lasting, consistent or fast? Pick 2 or maybe even just 1.

Unfortunately, the hot autocross/ultimate grip street tires like the A052, RE71R and now possibly the Falken RT660 all die a very rapid heat death both from intolerance to heat as well as heat cycling.

Certainly the Nitto NT01 and believe it or not the ancient Toyo RA-1 are more likely to provide consistent lap times more suitable to lapping days. My only concern is when asked if Toyo is still using their old (meaning good) compound on the RA-1 and NT01 (Nitto is a Toyo subsidiary) vs using the newer compound of the R888 (which I personally hate), they refuse to give an answer.

Have you guys ran the Firestone Indy 500's? Wondering how they compare to the Falkens
I'd also like to know as I have a set of 225/40R18 and have been thinking about experiencing a track day this summer.

Look for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport. It's very much the same as the PS4 but doesn't overheat at track and is a tiny bit less comfortable.
