A lot of threads about this. Seems the prevailing opinion is that if you have anything metallic against the fob it works part time. Usually whatever keyring you have or fob is in pocket with your phone.
So probably my damn metal keychain lol.

I disabled walkaway auto lock for this reason. Got annoying hearing the beep all the time. Its easy enough just to tap the button on the door handle anyways

Why not just turn it off?

Settings->Vehicle->Keyless Access Setup->Keyless Access Beep
Hes talking about the key fob warning beep. It's a rapid beeping that goes off randomly on my car. Some times the cars off the doors locked I walk away and it goes off. I dont think it gas an off option but not sure. I found putting a new battery in fob helped alot as the beeps are happening because the car cant find the fob.

You can also try turning off the keyless lock answer back in door and window settings it turns off remote beeps. Not sure about the fob warning rapid beeps though which us what in guessing us driving you nuts. Try a new battery I helped cut down the amount if times mine went off.

Sorry about my auto correct typos I'm tired of fixing the damn things... lol

serious question, why the hell does it beep like an angry girlfriend randomly after shutting off the car and exiting? I cannot for the life figure out why (about 50% of the time) it has a holy shit fit and beeps 20x for no goddamn reason.
My wild ass guess is it's for half deaf older folks who can't hear the car idling anyways... who might be less familiar with push button starts, and who get out of an idling car and walk away from them.

I get that but mine does it after i shut off the car. It's like it doesn't recognize i've shut off the car and closed the door and rapid beeps liek 20x

Fair enough. That would drive me crazy too. Mine only gives me the single long beep when I lock an already locked car, and does a short double beep (I think it's a double) when I put my hand between the door and handle to auto-unlock. The crazy, "Get the F back here" beeping only happens to me if the key leaves a running car.

I'd go to a dealer and compare yours to another on the lot.

Because the car can't detect where the key fob is and doesn't want to lock the car with the keys still inside it. So you need to not obstruct the fob as much when you exit the car. This way it should be able to detect it leaving the car and know it's fine to lock the car.

This ^^^^

But also, you are probably walking away from the car too quickly upon closing the door. For the reasons listed above, the car needs to sense the fob before leaving the area for it to not go crazy. I've had my walk away auto lock enabled since I first got the car, and have had minimal issues with it not working as it should. I find that the only time I get the rapid beeps is when I've moved quickly away from the car while closing the door. Try staying next to the car as you close the door and then walk away, that should solve the problem.

I think whats happening is, the civic has a range on the fob where it thinks its in the trunk/hatch were it beeps wildly to let you know your keys are in the trunk. What im thinking is as it happens to me too and like another member said, we are walking away from car to fast and at the distance it beeps its because it thinks fob is in trunk. Which would explain why the car doesnt lock when it beeps for some members. Its not suppose to when keys are in trunk. Ive noticed when in in hurry is when im out car and already walking away when i close door and by time door shuts im 5/6 feet away which is same distance as trunk and car beeps wildly. If i wait till door closes before walking off i never get the wild beeps.

So mine does all of the above and it does get old. What really frustrates me is if I go outside to start the car (because you can’t put an OEM autostart in a Si) and want to leave it running, why can’t I lock my doors even if the car knows the key is not inside?

I read in another thread on CivicX that you CAN lock the doors while you are outside with the key, but it requires you to manually lock them with the key vs hitting the button. Inconvenient yes, but possible.

I'm not sure if it works with the Civic.... BUT, on the Focus, if you hold the fob to the window as you close the door, it tricks the computer into thinking the key is in the car. #NoBeeps

I want to unplug that obnoxious POS, but I don't know where it is. It's in the back somewhere, has anyone come across it taking their car apart?
I think I found it. I'm not unplugging mine though so I can't guarantee that's it. No tools required.

EDIT: In case it's not obvious, this is under the floor in the trunk/hatch, right behind the seats. Just lift up the flap for the spare tire area to reveal.

I believe I have the same in my trunk under the rear deck. I always took it for an antenna, though.

If I had to guess; I think it'd have a rounded area,,, like a miniature factory horn.
