Has any installed this lower grille piece? If so how was the fitment and overall look?

I don't have that piece exactly, but I made something that looks just like it out of gutter guard. There's a thread on here somewhere about other people doing that also. It looks fine and offers a bit more protection than the open design Honda has.

It'll look tacky in my opinion because all the other vents will have a different pattern. But as long as you like it, that's all that matters.

I have an EX Sedan, no fake vents. I do have the Procivic honeycomb grille.

Yeah, $5 gutter guard from Home Depot also works to protect the intercooler.
