The local honey thing has been debunked.

I have pretty had allergies also. I've learned that if you take Benadryl often enough it doesnt really make you drowsy anymore (or at least it's been my experience). I'll take that with excedrine for sinus headaches and it seems to knock them out really quickly.

I also do a neti pot if i'm constantly suffering, which seems to work really well. I like to do it before bed just so no allergens are sitting in my sinuses all night which usually leads to feeling good the next morning.

Flonase daily also. Two shots each nostril in the morning, and again in the afternoon if things are especially rough.
gotcha, unfortunately there's not any local honey near enough to me so wouldn't have been able to do it anyway :/

I also use a neti pot but it honestly doesn't help too much, maybe for a bit but I get congested again
I can relate. I have allergic rhinitis. My nostrils are clogged every morning and I always sneeze my brains off in the morning. I should really invest in a good quality air purifier.
air purifier is great just in general, i have one in my room. helps clean the air a lot and have it at a good quality, i smoke marijuana in my room sometimes so it definitely helps with that
also consider switching allergy meds. i always took claritin but this year has been hell. i switched to allegra and it seems to be working better.
yeah im on claritin right now and it's losing effectiveness, I did that last year and it seemed to work so my next batch I'll go to allegra or zyrtec
Go to an Allergy Specialist. I finally did after suffering with terrible allergies for 20+years. I went this past February, had the full testing done, and decided to get a sublingual immunotherapy drop taken 3 times a day. The other option was a weekly allergy shot but I travel a lot for work. Allergies are 99% gone in just 2 months. Go to a specialist now. OTC allergy meds are only supplemental.
might consider this, after some googling it seems allergies are all around worse every year due to climate change. if my allergies get worse than this I'll likely be doing this asap
My allergies have been getting worse than normal recently. My nose even started bleeding because of them, and of all days it ended up being in the middle of prom pictures. I didn't get any in the suit tho
dude tell me about it me too, nose is definitely irritated from constant nose blowing. Had a crazy nose bleed last night in my left nose and my right nose was congested so I had to mouth breathe for a bit lmao, so annoying

@suhhh I’m telling you, don’t waste time or money on any more otc or holistic supplements, just go to a specialist. I had the full testing done on my back, I was allergic to everything except donkeys and one kind of oak tree ?. The tests cover allergies for all seasons and in every North American climate. You will thank me later ???

What did they do to treat it. Knowing what I'm allergic to is only half the problem.

Zyrtec is about the only thing that’s still works for me. Try that. I don’t get drowsy from it. Maybe I’m used to it. I been taking it every spring for 5 years. But over time it will stop working. Right now it is only half as effective.

Was this covered under insurance? If not how much was it? I think I'm just going to go this route, if allergies are genuinely going to get worse every year then I will need to do that. This is the worst I've suffered and I can't imagine worse lol

Same story as me but with Claritin D, worked for years but this year it literally does nothing. Doesn't help sinuses, doesn't help itchy eyes or sneezing. Even the flonase I use doesn't help at all and I still have two clogged noses lol

It was mostly covered for me. Every insurance is different, so you can have the office run an estimate for you before treatment and testing. If the treatment cost $4,000, I would gladly have paid that knowing I am symptom free. Plus, my treatment will continue to get “stronger,” so my allergies should only be better over the coming years.

Claritin nor Zyrtec have ever worked for me, and Benadryl always made me too sleepy. I used Nasacort for a few years, but stopped for whatever reason, and suffered. Now, I use Flonase and it's fantastic! And, it's cheaper via prescription with insurance than buying over the counter.

Yikes, that sounds twice as bad as my single clogged nose

Yeah hopefully I can get that covered under insurance, $4,000 is a hefty price but to completely get rid of allergies for my lifetime I can see that as worth it. Thanks for the info bro
Maybe try Nasacort?
I'll give it a shot, I usually just rotate between all types of allergy medication once they start losing effectiveness

I used to use Claritin but for some reason it stopped working for me a long time ago. I switched to Allegra and now the generic Allegra paired with the generic Flonase spray from Costco “AllerFlo”. I get bad seasonal allergies and I’m allergic to cats, but I live with three of them and the pair I’m taking seems to be doing great. Also, the Decongestant Claritin (Claritin-D) was the best for clearing my sinuses but eventually, I started to get annoying side effects and stopped taking it.
Note: Flonase or similar has to be used DAILY for it to work. If you miss a day or whatnot it won’t be as effective from my experience.

For me I tackle it as separate problems: eyes, nose, throat:
1. Bausch and Lomb allergy eye drops. keep them in the fridge and use as needed
2. Flonase or other allergy nasal spray. This will help eliminate the runny nose and some of the throat itchiness
3. Over the counter allergy pills like allegra. On the bottle they say take 1, but I've been to an allergist who told me you can take 2 or 3 and it isn't a problem.

This is as close to a complete fix as I've found. If you need, you can try adding a hepa filter to your bedroom and a humidifier.

I'm also allergic to cats and I've heard about the allergy shots you can get but I've never seen if they have them for pollen, but could be worth looking into

They do have shots or sublingual immunotherapy (drops under your tongue) for literally ANY environmental and MOST food allergies. Not trying to be an ass because I was trying anything and everything otc out there like y’all are... but this thread literally has one solution. Go. To. A. Specialist.

Here is a candid shot of my back when they began the allergy panel on me. Each red, swollen, or blotchy spot is something I’m allergic to. Mind you, I had more panels on my arms as well. I was pricked with over 80 known allergens on my back and arms. My sublingual immunotherapy drops have small amounts of everything I’m allergic to in it, just like a shot. Over time, the drops become more and more potent so the allergens affect you less and less.

I uses to take allergy medicine daily. Took an allergy test and it's the best choice for allergies. I get a shot every week for the different pollens, grass and cats. I feel better than I did and have no more itchy eyes, nose or scratchy throat. I also cut out a bunch of dairy as I was allergic to that as well.
