So yeah that is happening. Went to dealer and they of course tried to blame me right off the bat. Well you are racing your car and super heating the brakes... UM no. Its a daily driver. They they tried to say it was the soap I was using to wash it. Um again no I use a PH neutral soap. Then they flat out said they wouldn't fix it wasn't a warranty item. So I point out it is a bumper to bumper warranty and the brakes are between the bumpers. Then they said after review they still wouldn't fix it as its normal wear and tear. WHAT!! Brake paint falling off is normal wear and tear... Damn I hate dealers. So now I have a case open with Honda. And Im about to send a photo and email to Brembo to ask them if they feel its normal for their paint to fall off the caliper.

I told dealer I know people who do track this car and their paint isn't falling off.

Cant see real well in this pic but 3 weeks ago was a tiny spot. In a month or so will be whole caliper.

Its brakes , not breaks. Guess that's why the dealer couldn't give you a break. That said. Sorry about the paint finish failure. Maybe ask Brembo to fix it ? Good thing its "just a civic"

Happens when brake fluid weeps out of the brake caliper and isn't cleaned. Have you or someone done any brake bleeding or flushing through the caliper?

Or possibly ran over/got splashed on with some damaging chemical.

Happened on my '04 TL with brembos. Happened enough on Mitsu Evos they have a TSB for it:

Do you use wheel cleaners. They are very aggressive against paint.

its a common problems with brembos.
Evos had that problem, Jeeps have that problem, STIs has had that problem.

I know some people have gotten them replaced under warranty. Really just depends on the dealer you go to i guess.

Try another Honda dealership.

Some are easier to persuade than others when it comes to warranty work.
Problem is next nearest dealer is 70 miles away.

I had this issue with my Evo, Mitsubishi warrantied and replaced both front calipers. I have heard of others having this issue with their civics, I haven't yet though and I track mine haha *knock on wood*

I think it's just shitty Brembo clear coat on the calipers. It chips from road rocks. Water gets in, with likely a combination of heat cycles and causes the clear to start peeling.

Happened on my TL with Brembos also... And it never lost brake fluid randomly, as someone else suggested.

100% it should be warrantied.

if you're referring to my post, didnt say that it randomly loses brake fluid. It can happen when someone does a fluid bleed or flush and not clean the screw area well enough afterwards. Hence the linked TSB from Mitsubishi about the exact thing.

Instead of going to a different dealer further away, try corporate instead?

I had this happen on one caliper. Took it in, gave some pictures, and they fixed it back in May.
