I am 81 years old and yet I love my modified SI.
The only reproach is the clutch which is hard and not very
progressive ( FX 300 with the original dual mass flywheel ),
but it' s the price to pay to have power and torque.
I have a new cmc that I hope will alleviate the problem
when it is installed.
Don't forget, this is a cheap sport car.
If you want comfort, silence softness...buy yourself a Lincoln,
a Buick...and if you also want sportiness, buy yourself some
Mercedes AMG, BMW, et others.

81 years old and still enjoying fast cars!
You sir are an inspiration!
Are there advantages to keeping the dual mass flywheel with an upgraded pressure plate & disk?
How many miles on your Si?
Dual Mass Flywheels are two Flywheels with springs, they help absorb engine vibration, that reduces wear on the transmission and drive train. Smoother operation and less NVH. Single mass has direct contact between the clutch and engine assembly. They dampen engine vibrations much less than DM. Dual mass flywheels have much better drive ability due to less jitter, Single Mass are better for performance and track driving

I have had dozens of cars in my life. Some of them were as powerful
( RSX Type S ), other were much powerful : Mustang GT 390 cu. in.or
6,4l, 335 hp ,Mustang mach 1 429 cu. in. or 7,0l, 375 hp, and this
is the first car I drive with a dmf and this shitty clutch!

Answer to jeffers.
No, there is no advantage to keeping the dmf if we find
a good smf and a well calculated and realized sprung disc.
In late 2017, early 2018, there was no smf nor sprung disc
for the SI.
In the moment, it seems that what exists on the market
is not developed or not sufficiently tested.
I don't drive much but fast!
Only 25000 km or 16000 mi.

I would say to the average person to stick with the dual mass flywheel, the current single mass flywheels for this car I'm hearing have a lot of chatter. Unless you are tuned and are running above 22 psi and need to go to a stage 1 clutch, constantly track the car etc

I must add that with the time, the FX 300 has improved:
it doesn't produce any chatter. Moreover, it seems that
it resists well to the 340 wtq, for the moment.
I thinks that this engine can very well accomodate
a smf, one has the proof of it with the many members of
this forum who installed the clutch of the CTR modified ( modified
for the crown of the starter ) and who are very satisfied.
Honda could have done this directly on the assembly line.

Haha I know what you mean. When I bought the Si in 2018, I bought it simply because I had this urge to go back to a manual, drive something that was economical and fun without costing an arm or leg. My IT team under me are younger (in their 20's) and thought I was having a mid-life crisis! Unfortunately driving in constant traffic and the constant driving between Northern and Southern Cal (8 hours) took it's toll. God bless the older gentlemen who drive this car and their young hearts!

Man I feel you. I love this car but living in Canada, driving this thing in the cold is a pain in the ass especially in the mornings. My shifts are crunchy and it feels like I'm breaking something whenever I shift...takes a while to heat the cabin, few rattles, can't coast smoothly in traffic, etc.

However, when things start to heat up, it gets rid of a few of my issues. I have only been driving this since November and it has always been cold so I actually can't wait til spring/summer for me to notice if the effects of the cold.
Haha. 1st to 2nd cold crunch - I freaking hate that. The dog clutches aren't working 100% when it's that cold, but don't force it. You can rev match when it's cold to minimize that. I'm a truck driver so I've gotten pretty good at rev matching in my Si. If you just practice, you will eventually be able to shift cold without it crunching at all.

Everyone I know loves my Si with the exception of my best friend (go figure). He was saying he wants to get Toyota CH-R and I personally think its styling is horrendous, but there's no sense in insulting him because he always likes or buys quirky, ugly cars. haha. Anyway, I told him I was going to buy the Si and he was like, "I don't like the back of them". Okay, that's its least attractive feature IMO because of the bulbous tail gate, so that's fine. But all I could think of was the car he wants isn't good looking from any angle and that's his opinion? You can't please everyone, but everyone else loves my car.

So, you saw Fast and Furious when you were 60-years old? Hehe. Unlike us, FF jokes never get old. :)

This 100% especially the shift knob on those feels like -20 days like today. I wish it came with a heated steering wheel. I mean I’ve driven base Hyundai’s that have heated steering wheels.
