Fabric protection, as in the good spray stuff? I do that every few months too, makes the seats like hydrophobic. But like you said, doesn't really protect from wear and tear like a physical cover would.It's a tough one. I've just got normal fabric protection on the seats but of course that doesn't protect from wear and tear and I;m not a fan of seat protectors.
I had 20000km on my previous CTR and was very careful how I got in and out and it had no noticeable wear. Given my LE will see maybe 4000km a year and I'm even more careful I am just going to live with it. If a set of OEM seats came up second hand I might grab them.
I was thinking of eventually looking for a set of backup seats as well but figure just paying an upholstery shop to redo them when the time comes would be cheaper. We'll see......maybe a decent looking low profile matching suede cover option will eventually come out
